Iz Italije stiže fotografija kao živi svjedok događaja o kojemu u Hrvatskoj gotovo ništa ne znamo!

Giancarlo Minguzzi, stručnjak za povijest ronjenje u sjevernome Jadranu, došao je do fotografije vađenja dimnjaka parobroda Split, a na poleđini je samo zabilježeno da je snimljena kod Žurkova. I ništa više!

Po slici je jasno da je nastala negdje sredinom pedesetih godina prošloga stoljeća, ali nema pisanih tragova o stradanju parobroda Split kod Žurkova, ni o njegovu vađenju.

A taj ruzinavi dimnjak uistinu pripada parobrodu Splitu koji je kod Žurkova skončao prije 99 godina!

Nevolja je u tome što u crnim kronikama iz 1917. piše da je stradao kod Martinšćice, no i to je posve točno. Između Martinšćice i Žurkova, a oba su naselja danas u sastavu općine Kostrena, udaljenost je tek nešto nekoliko kilometara, a Split je stradao na – pola puta.

Nepoznata epizoda – vađenje Splitova dimnjaka
---Vratimo se u 1908. godinu kada je u Splitu utemeljen 'Jadran' Hrvatsko parobrodarsko društvo s.o.j. Iste godine kupljena su dva nevelika, ali još nova teretnjaka: Jadran, građen 1901. i godinu dana stariji Split.

Junak naše priče svečano je porinut 23. kolovoza 1900. u Port Glasgowu, u brodogradilištu Anderson Rodger & Co. Tvrtka Clanrye Steamship Co. iz gradića Newryja u Sjevernoj Irskoj odabrala mu je ime Killeavy. Od istoga je vlasnika kupljen i parobrod Speedy, koji je postao Jadran.

Priča o Splitu

Priči o Splitu kraj je došao nenadano brzo, na sam Badnjak 1917. godine. Brod je bio na vezu u Rijeci, pun karbida dopremljenog iz Dugoga Rata. I odjednom požar koji je Splita pretvorio u ploveću bombu. Posada je načinila čudo: zapaljenim je brodom najvećom brzinom isplovila prema Kostreni i tamo ga uspjela nasukati. Kratko zatim teret je eksplodirao, a dijelovi Splita godinama su ostali rasuti po dnu.

Nesretni je parobrod doskora posve zaboravljen. Brodospas je početkom pedesetih godina istražio veliku većinu podrtina na Jadranu, no Split se nigdje ne spominje. Ne spominje se ni vađenje njegovih ostataka. Očito je to bila akcija u stilu 'sam svoj majstor' kako bi se došlo do staroga željeza. Detalji nisu poznati, no moguće fotografija potakne sjećanje nekog od naših čitatelja.

Kažimo da je Split je bio dug 44.2 i širok 7.6 metara, mogao je ukrcati 600 tona tereta, a pogonio ga je parni stroj od 700 konjskih snaga.

Iz Italije stiže fotografija kao živi svjedok događaja o kojemu u Hrvatskoj gotovo ništa ne znamo!

Giancarlo Minguzzi, stručnjak za povijest ronjenje u sjevernome Jadranu, došao je do fotografije vađenja dimnjaka parobroda Split, a na poleđini je samo zabilježeno da je snimljena kod Žurkova. I ništa više!

Po slici je jasno da je nastala negdje sredinom pedesetih godina prošloga stoljeća, ali nema pisanih tragova o stradanju parobroda Split kod Žurkova, ni o njegovu vađenju.

A taj ruzinavi dimnjak uistinu pripada parobrodu Splitu koji je kod Žurkova skončao prije 99 godina!

Nevolja je u tome što u crnim kronikama iz 1917. piše da je stradao kod Martinšćice, no i to je posve točno. Između Martinšćice i Žurkova, a oba su naselja danas u sastavu općine Kostrena, udaljenost je tek nešto nekoliko kilometara, a Split je stradao na – pola puta.

---Vratimo se u 1908. godinu kada je u Splitu utemeljen 'Jadran' Hrvatsko parobrodarsko društvo s.o.j. Iste godine kupljena su dva nevelika, ali još nova teretnjaka: Jadran, građen 1901. i godinu dana stariji Split.

Junak naše priče svečano je porinut 23. kolovoza 1900. u Port Glasgowu, u brodogradilištu Anderson Rodger & Co. Tvrtka Clanrye Steamship Co. iz gradića Newryja u Sjevernoj Irskoj odabrala mu je ime Killeavy. Od istoga je vlasnika kupljen i parobrod Speedy, koji je postao Jadran.

Priča o Splitu

Priči o Splitu kraj je došao nenadano brzo, na sam Badnjak 1917. godine. Brod je bio na vezu u Rijeci, pun karbida dopremljenog iz Dugoga Rata. I odjednom požar koji je Splita pretvorio u ploveću bombu. Posada je načinila čudo: zapaljenim je brodom najvećom brzinom isplovila prema Kostreni i tamo ga uspjela nasukati. Kratko zatim teret je eksplodirao, a dijelovi Splita godinama su ostali rasuti po dnu.

Nesretni je parobrod doskora posve zaboravljen. Brodospas je početkom pedesetih godina istražio veliku većinu podrtina na Jadranu, no Split se nigdje ne spominje. Ne spominje se ni vađenje njegovih ostataka. Očito je to bila akcija u stilu 'sam svoj majstor' kako bi se došlo do staroga željeza. Detalji nisu poznati, no moguće fotografija potakne sjećanje nekog od naših čitatelja.

Kažimo da je Split je bio dug 44.2 i širok 7.6 metara, mogao je ukrcati 600 tona tereta, a pogonio ga je parni stroj od 700 konjskih snaga.

A kako je za života izgledala njegova ciminjera? Fotografiju Splita nemamo, pa pogledajte njemu gotovo jednaki parobrod Oak, također iz sjevernoirskoga Newryja.
