Kompanija U-Boat Worx iz Brede od 2005. proizvodi privatne podmornice za bogataše i istraživače, a njihov najnoviji model nosi naziv Nemo. Nizozemci napominju kako je riječ o najlakšoj privatnoj podmornici na svijetu jer teži samo 2500 kilograma. Vrlo je praktična, bez problema se vozi automobilom na trajleru i može se porinuti u more s obale. Štoviše, vrlo je skromnih gabarita – duga je 280 i visoka 155 cm, te široka samo 231 cm, što znači da ne zauzima puno mjesta na palubi većih jahti.
Unatoč malim dimenzijama, Nemo može dosegnuti dubinu od 100 metara, dok je snaga baterija dovoljna za osam sati rada. Mini podmornica s pogonom na struju je dvosjed, što znači da uz pilota u njoj može sjediti jedan putnik. Maksimalna brzina ispod mora je skromna i iznosi tri čvora, ali valja naglasiti kako se podmornicom može upravljati daljinskim putem s obale ili broda preko Marlin controllera. Kad smo kod cijene, od nje boli glava budući da Nemo košta 975.000 eura. (Ž. S.)
