Američki časopis The Atlantic ovog je tjedna objavio članak pod naslovom "Prestanite trošiti testove na COVID, ljudi". Upozorava se da, u svjetlu široko rasprostranjene nestašice, "ljudi s najmanjim rizikom od COVID-a ne bi trebali kupovati zalihe kućnih testova niti zauzimati termine za PCR ako ne doživljavaju simptome".
No, članak se bavi i ekstremnijom verzijom ovog problema - neki ljudi, naime, koriste kućne COVID testove kako bi vidjeli hoće li voda iz slavine dati pozitivan rezultat te svoja "otkrića" objavljuju na društvenim mrežama, prenosi njujorški portal Intelligencer.
Nejasni su motivi onih koji ova "kućna istraživanja" objavljuju na društvenim mrežama - pitanje je jesu li zabrinuti za točnost testova na kućni antigen ili za mogućnost da se COVID širi vodoopskrbom... No, bez obzira na njihove ciljeve, obmanjujući isječci izazvali su dovoljno zanimanja da ih je nekoliko stranica za provjeru činjenica bilo prisiljeno razotkriti ovog tjedna.
Reuters se obratio Abbottu, proizvođaču popularnog testa Binax COVID antigena. Tvrtka je rekla da video snimke pokazuju da se testovi izvode pogrešno, što rezultate čini besmislenima. Doista, to se navodi i u uputama za ovaj test.
"Neadekvatno ili neprikladno prikupljanje, skladištenje i transport uzoraka može dati lažne rezultate testa", glasi upozorenje.
Ali i dalje ostaje pitanje kako voda iz slavine može dati lažne pozitivne rezultate? To nipošto nije zato što ona vrvi Covidom.
Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija, Američka agencija za zaštitu okoliša i Centri za kontrolu bolesti rekli su da se COVID ne prenosi kroz vodu.

Američki časopis The Atlantic ovog je tjedna objavio članak pod naslovom "Prestanite trošiti testove na COVID, ljudi". Upozorava se da, u svjetlu široko rasprostranjene nestašice, "ljudi s najmanjim rizikom od COVID-a ne bi trebali kupovati zalihe kućnih testova niti zauzimati termine za PCR ako ne doživljavaju simptome".
No, članak se bavi i ekstremnijom verzijom ovog problema - neki ljudi, naime, koriste kućne COVID testove kako bi vidjeli hoće li voda iz slavine dati pozitivan rezultat te svoja "otkrića" objavljuju na društvenim mrežama, prenosi njujorški portal Intelligencer.
Nejasni su motivi onih koji ova "kućna istraživanja" objavljuju na društvenim mrežama - pitanje je jesu li zabrinuti za točnost testova na kućni antigen ili za mogućnost da se COVID širi vodoopskrbom... No, bez obzira na njihove ciljeve, obmanjujući isječci izazvali su dovoljno zanimanja da ih je nekoliko stranica za provjeru činjenica bilo prisiljeno razotkriti ovog tjedna.
Reuters se obratio Abbottu, proizvođaču popularnog testa Binax COVID antigena. Tvrtka je rekla da video snimke pokazuju da se testovi izvode pogrešno, što rezultate čini besmislenima. Doista, to se navodi i u uputama za ovaj test.
"Neadekvatno ili neprikladno prikupljanje, skladištenje i transport uzoraka može dati lažne rezultate testa", glasi upozorenje.
Ali i dalje ostaje pitanje kako voda iz slavine može dati lažne pozitivne rezultate? To nipošto nije zato što ona vrvi Covidom.
Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija, Američka agencija za zaštitu okoliša i Centri za kontrolu bolesti rekli su da se COVID ne prenosi kroz vodu.

CDC na svojoj web stranici navodi: "Konvencionalne metode pročišćavanja vode koje koriste filtraciju i dezinfekciju, poput onih u većini općinskih sustava pitke vode, trebale bi ukloniti ili inaktivirati virus koji uzrokuje COVID-19".
Prema Abbottu, korištenje bilo čega osim reagensa uključenog u pakiranje može odbaciti test.
- Druge tekućine imaju kemijska svojstva koja mogu uzrokovati kemijsku reakciju na test traci, što rezultira pogrešnim ili netočnim rezultatima - rekao je predstavnik tvrtke John Koval za Reuters.
Studija objavljena u International Journal of Infectious Diseases u kolovozu to potvrđuje.
- Primijetili smo da sva bezalkoholna pića, energetska pića, alkoholna pića (votka, viski i rakija), komercijalno flaširana mineralna voda i gazirana mineralna voda uzrokuju pojavu crvene testne linije - napisali su autori.
- Međutim, kada se pomiješaju jednake količine pufera i odgovarajućih napitaka, nema lažno pozitivnih testnih linija - pojašnjavaju.
Za one koji više vole vidjeti hipotezu o vodi iz slavine o COVID-u razotkrivenu u mediju iz kojeg je došla, doktor Karan Raj, kirurg Nacionalne zdravstvene službe Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva koji ima više od 4,5 milijuna pratitelja na TikToku, objavio je ovaj video objašnjavajući kako određene tekućine mogu poremetiti test.

Dakle, ne možete dobiti Covid iz vode iz slavine. Iako je FDA nedavno izrazila zabrinutost da bi testovi kućnih antigena mogli smanjiti osjetljivost na omikron varijantu, oni i dalje općenito rade kako se tvrdi. Ali definitivno možete očekivati iznimno visoku lažno pozitivnu stopu ako trošite testove na COVID antigen na bilo što drugo osim na bris čovjeka prema uputama, zaključuje Intelligencer.
