Omekšivač tkanine je superzvijezda među proizvodima za pranje rublja. Ne samo da ostavlja vašu odjeću i druge predmete da mirišu svježe, već sastojci pomažu smanjiti gužvanje. Korištenje omekšivača tkanini može koristiti, posebno kada je riječ o smanjenju statike i stvaranju da se materijali budu baršunasti i ugodni na dodir.

Međutim, korištenje u umjerenim količinama može biti najbolji način da dobijete sve prednosti, bez ikakvih nedostataka. Previše omekšivača ponekad može uzrokovati iritaciju kože ili ostaviti ostatke na odjeći koji bi mogli izazvati alergije. Budući da ovi proizvodi sadrže ftalate koji istiskuju mirise iz tekućine u tkaninu, EWG napominje da ako netko ima osjetljivu kožu, sintetički mirisi mogli bi je više uznemiriti, pogotovo ako koristite previše omekšivača.

Treba provjeriti što na omekšivaču piše, jer neki proizvodi mogu biti koncentriraniji i snažniji od drugih. Nadalje, i svaka perilica rublja je različita.

Prema raznim stručnjacima za pranje veša, uključujući Mary Gagliardi, zvanu dr. Laundry, naučnicu u The Clorox Company, previše omekšivača može rezultirati uništenjem odjeće, pa čak može izazvati i kvar na perilici rublja.

Ako se pitate koliko omekšivača koristiti, nemojte ići prema linijama na čepu. Umjesto toga zgrabite žlicu!

Na TikTok profilu @wirecutter razbijen je mit da će odjeća izgledati čistije ako koristimo što više omekšivača. Jedna velika žlica omekšivača troši se na 3,5 kilograma rublja, što znači da se za obične perilice rublja kapaciteta 7 kilograma koriste dvije žlice.
