Uz to što je naslov poznatog crtanog filma, "Ljepotica i zvijer" predstavlja prilagođenu verziju istinite priče o životu Petrusa Gonsalvusa - čovjeka s Kanarskih otoka koji je patio od takozvanog sindroma vukodlaka, prenosi National Geographic.
Priča o ljepotici koja se udaje za zvijer nije plod mašte. Ovakva priča je prvi put objavljena 1740. godine u Francuskoj. Napisala ju je spisateljica po imenu Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve prema istinitim događajima i likovima.
Prava zvijer iz ove priče je muškarac po imenu Petrus Gonsalvus, rođen 1537. na Kanarskim otocima, koji je bolovao od hipertrihoze ili sindroma vukodlaka - tada nepoznate i neizlječive bolesti.
Kad je imao svega deset godina, Gonsalvus je zaključan u kavez i poslan u Francusku kao poklon za krunidbu kralja Henrija II. Iako je bio zaključan u podrumu i tretiran kao zvijer, liječnici su zaključili da se radi o pravom dječaku. Od tog trenutka stvari su se počele odvijati u njegovu korist.
Kralj mu je odlučio osigurati obrazovanje. Iako vladar u njega nije polagao velike nade, Gonsalvus se pokazao kao dobar učenik koji je bez većih poteškoća uspio naučiti nekoliko stranih jezika i manire visokog društva. Gonsalvusov napredak najbolje se ogleda u činjenici da je uspio postati ugledan član kraljevske palače, što je podrazumijevalo dobivanje svih privilegija tadašnje aristokracije.
Nakon smrti Henrija II, francusko prijestolje zauzima kraljica Katarina de' Medici, njegova supruga, koja je bila na glasu kao osoba teške naravi. Ona je, iz sumnjivih namjera, kreirala planove za ženidbu Gonsalvusa. Priče s kraljevskog dvora koje su tada kružile odnosile su se na to kako je kraljica smatrala Gonsalvusov brak zabavnim, kao i da bi voljela vidjeti djecu koja boluju od hipertrihoze.
Kraljičini planovi su se na kraju obistinili. Gonsalvus je oženio djevojku koja je bila kraljičina imenjakinja i s njom proveo 40 godina u braku tijekom kojeg je rođeno sedmero djece.
To, ipak, nije bio kraj Gonsalvusovim izazovima.
Četvero njegove djece bolovalo je od sindroma vukodlaka, a cijela njegova obitelj eksploatirana je na europskim dvorovima. Paradirajući europskim kraljevskim palačama, Petrusova obitelj je zarađivala za život, ali i služila za podsmjeh i zabavu.
Njegovi potomci doživjeli su sličnu sudbinu. Većina njegove djece poslana je kao poklon plemstvu te su bila tretirana kao kućni ljubimci, a ne kao ljudi.
- Situacija je bila jako čudna. Oni nisu bili ni zatočeni ni slobodni, ali su bili plaćeni - objašnjava Roberto Zapperi, talijnaski povjesničar i Gonsalvusov biograf. Iako su živjeli udobno i službeno imali dobar društveni status, Gonsalvusovi nikad nisu u potpunosti bili tretirani kao ljudi. Petrus Gonsalvus umro je bez posljednjeg pomazanja svećenika, piše National Geographic.

Uz to što je naslov poznatog crtanog filma, "Ljepotica i zvijer" predstavlja prilagođenu verziju istinite priče o životu Petrusa Gonsalvusa - čovjeka s Kanarskih otoka koji je patio od takozvanog sindroma vukodlaka, prenosi National Geographic.
Priča o ljepotici koja se udaje za zvijer nije plod mašte. Ovakva priča je prvi put objavljena 1740. godine u Francuskoj. Napisala ju je spisateljica po imenu Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve prema istinitim događajima i likovima.
Prava zvijer iz ove priče je muškarac po imenu Petrus Gonsalvus, rođen 1537. na Kanarskim otocima, koji je bolovao od hipertrihoze ili sindroma vukodlaka - tada nepoznate i neizlječive bolesti.
Kad je imao svega deset godina, Gonsalvus je zaključan u kavez i poslan u Francusku kao poklon za krunidbu kralja Henrija II. Iako je bio zaključan u podrumu i tretiran kao zvijer, liječnici su zaključili da se radi o pravom dječaku. Od tog trenutka stvari su se počele odvijati u njegovu korist.
Kralj mu je odlučio osigurati obrazovanje. Iako vladar u njega nije polagao velike nade, Gonsalvus se pokazao kao dobar učenik koji je bez većih poteškoća uspio naučiti nekoliko stranih jezika i manire visokog društva. Gonsalvusov napredak najbolje se ogleda u činjenici da je uspio postati ugledan član kraljevske palače, što je podrazumijevalo dobivanje svih privilegija tadašnje aristokracije.
Nakon smrti Henrija II, francusko prijestolje zauzima kraljica Katarina de' Medici, njegova supruga, koja je bila na glasu kao osoba teške naravi. Ona je, iz sumnjivih namjera, kreirala planove za ženidbu Gonsalvusa. Priče s kraljevskog dvora koje su tada kružile odnosile su se na to kako je kraljica smatrala Gonsalvusov brak zabavnim, kao i da bi voljela vidjeti djecu koja boluju od hipertrihoze.
Kraljičini planovi su se na kraju obistinili. Gonsalvus je oženio djevojku koja je bila kraljičina imenjakinja i s njom proveo 40 godina u braku tijekom kojeg je rođeno sedmero djece.
To, ipak, nije bio kraj Gonsalvusovim izazovima.
Četvero njegove djece bolovalo je od sindroma vukodlaka, a cijela njegova obitelj eksploatirana je na europskim dvorovima. Paradirajući europskim kraljevskim palačama, Petrusova obitelj je zarađivala za život, ali i služila za podsmjeh i zabavu.
Njegovi potomci doživjeli su sličnu sudbinu. Većina njegove djece poslana je kao poklon plemstvu te su bila tretirana kao kućni ljubimci, a ne kao ljudi.
- Situacija je bila jako čudna. Oni nisu bili ni zatočeni ni slobodni, ali su bili plaćeni - objašnjava Roberto Zapperi, talijnaski povjesničar i Gonsalvusov biograf. Iako su živjeli udobno i službeno imali dobar društveni status, Gonsalvusovi nikad nisu u potpunosti bili tretirani kao ljudi. Petrus Gonsalvus umro je bez posljednjeg pomazanja svećenika, piše National Geographic.
