Nicolas Cage u Hrvatskoj, film Nicolasa Cagea na hrvatskom "online" videotržištu. Bilo kuda, Cage (po)svuda. Zasigurno ste čuli da je Cage stigao u Dubrovnik na snimanje novog filma "The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent", ali možda vam je ispod radara prošlo da u "online" videoteci možete premijerno rentati jedan od njegovih posljednjih uradaka, prošlogodišnji "Running With The Devil".

Možda ste i digli ruke od Cageovih direktno-na-video filmova nakon niza razočaranja opipljive lošosti pa vas postojanje "Udruženih s vragom" ni ne zanima. To se može razumjeti. Posljednjih desetak godina Cage je više "miss" ("Oteta", "Neumoljivi bijes", "Ostavljeni", "Prije sumraka", "USS Indianapolis: Ratna hrabrost", "Nepodmireni dugovi"... lista je poduža) nego "hit" ("Kick-Ass", "Joe", "Divlji psi", "Mandy", "Boja iz svemira").

No, u rijetkim trenucima kad je "hit", Cage znade podsjetiti na dane kad je osvojio Oscara ("Napuštajući Las Vegas") i bio jedan od najekstraordinarnijih/najnepredvidljivijih glumaca na svijetu.

Tad je Cage bez problema skakao s blockbustera ("Hrid", "Con Air", "Čovjek bez lica"...) na nezavisne ili umjetničke filmove ("Arizona Junior", "Divlji u srcu", "Adaptacija"...) i surađivao s redateljima poput De Palme, Scorsesea, Schumachera i Ridleyja Scotta ("Zmijske oči", "Između života i smrti", "8 milimetara", "Šibicari").

Takvi dani su iza glumca-oskarovca, njegova bolja prošlost koja će teško postati sadašnjost i budućnost. Svjestan je toga i Cage pa se u jednoj sceni krimi-trilera "Running With The Devil" metafilmski pita "Gdje je tome kraj?", naizgled zarobljen u labirintu loši(ji)h filmova.

Ipak, "Udruženi s vragom" spada među njegove nelošije i ambicioznije novije uratke i radi koračić u pravome smjeru, jednako kao metafilm sa setom u Dubrovniku, suludo potentne premise, u kojem Cage igra samoga sebe, a ustvari doušnika CIA-e koji se pristaje pojaviti na rođendanu fana-milijardera, inače kralja droge angažiranog u Tarantinovu filmu (!).

"Running With The Devil" kao da je bio ozbiljno "zagrijavanje" za potencijalno najbolji i najmetafilmskiji ili barem najneozbiljniji/najzabavniji novovjeki Cageov film "The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent", s obzirom na priču koja se vrti oko raspačavača droge, doušnika itd.

Redatelj Jason Cabell nije uspio napraviti "Traffic" za 2010-e, ali to ne znači da nije pokušao, počevši od angažmana neobično zvučne glumačke ekipe uz Cagea kakvu njegovi recentniji filmovi baš i nisu okupili (Laurence Fishburne, Barry Pepper, Cole Hauser, Adam Goldberg, Leslie Bibb, Clifton Collins Jr.).

Najveća zanimljivost tiče se tretmana likova u odnosu na samu drogu – nema središnjeg protagonista. Sve je podređeno kokainu i mehanici raspačavanja od ruralne Južne Amerike do urbanog ostatka svijeta, odnosno reperkusijama kokainskog šverc-komerca, neprekinuta lanca međunarodne trgovine drogom, malim kotačićima jednog moćnog, destruktivnog stroja koji melje sve pred sobom (predoziranja itd).

Likovi su bezimeni, nazvani The Cook, The Man, The Boss, The Enforcer, The Snitch, The Agent in Charge, The Farmer. Droga, pak, ima ime i o njoj i njezinoj čistoći, cijeni po kilogramu, naveliko se priča, dok o likovima jedva da doznajemo išta. Ona je vrag iz naslova "Udruženi s vragom", glavni lik, a Cage, Fishburne i svi ostali su sporedni, ponekad na svoju štetu i štetu nerijetko narativno i karakterno raštrkanog, nefokusiranog filma.

Cabell je odabrao dobru ekipu, ali napravio krivi casting u slučaju Cagea i Fishburnea, iako je zasigurno to izveo namjerno u "against-type" maniri. Fishburne igra lika kakav bi bolje odgovarao Cageu – ovisan o kokainu i prostitutkama, pijan, urokan, sav znojan, maničan, buljavih očiju, pušten s glumačkog lanca.

S druge strane, Cage je zauzdan, smiren, malodušan, običan, čak i preobičan, tj. jedva pamtljiv, sve samo ne nezaboravan, kakav i film u konačnici postaje. Da su Cage i Fishburne obrnuli uloge, "Running With The Devil" bi se glumački udružio s vragom i ne bi ispao ovako ordinaran.

Nicolas Cage u Hrvatskoj, film Nicolasa Cagea na hrvatskom "online" videotržištu. Bilo kuda, Cage (po)svuda. Zasigurno ste čuli da je Cage stigao u Dubrovnik na snimanje novog filma "The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent", ali možda vam je ispod radara prošlo da u "online" videoteci možete premijerno rentati jedan od njegovih posljednjih uradaka, prošlogodišnji "Running With The Devil".

Možda ste i digli ruke od Cageovih direktno-na-video filmova nakon niza razočaranja opipljive lošosti pa vas postojanje "Udruženih s vragom" ni ne zanima. To se može razumjeti. Posljednjih desetak godina Cage je više "miss" ("Oteta", "Neumoljivi bijes", "Ostavljeni", "Prije sumraka", "USS Indianapolis: Ratna hrabrost", "Nepodmireni dugovi"... lista je poduža) nego "hit" ("Kick-Ass", "Joe", "Divlji psi", "Mandy", "Boja iz svemira").

No, u rijetkim trenucima kad je "hit", Cage znade podsjetiti na dane kad je osvojio Oscara ("Napuštajući Las Vegas") i bio jedan od najekstraordinarnijih/najnepredvidljivijih glumaca na svijetu.

Tad je Cage bez problema skakao s blockbustera ("Hrid", "Con Air", "Čovjek bez lica"...) na nezavisne ili umjetničke filmove ("Arizona Junior", "Divlji u srcu", "Adaptacija"...) i surađivao s redateljima poput De Palme, Scorsesea, Schumachera i Ridleyja Scotta ("Zmijske oči", "Između života i smrti", "8 milimetara", "Šibicari").

Takvi dani su iza glumca-oskarovca, njegova bolja prošlost koja će teško postati sadašnjost i budućnost. Svjestan je toga i Cage pa se u jednoj sceni krimi-trilera "Running With The Devil" metafilmski pita "Gdje je tome kraj?", naizgled zarobljen u labirintu loši(ji)h filmova.

Ipak, "Udruženi s vragom" spada među njegove nelošije i ambicioznije novije uratke i radi koračić u pravome smjeru, jednako kao metafilm sa setom u Dubrovniku, suludo potentne premise, u kojem Cage igra samoga sebe, a ustvari doušnika CIA-e koji se pristaje pojaviti na rođendanu fana-milijardera, inače kralja droge angažiranog u Tarantinovu filmu (!).

"Running With The Devil" kao da je bio ozbiljno "zagrijavanje" za potencijalno najbolji i najmetafilmskiji ili barem najneozbiljniji/najzabavniji novovjeki Cageov film "The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent", s obzirom na priču koja se vrti oko raspačavača droge, doušnika itd.

Redatelj Jason Cabell nije uspio napraviti "Traffic" za 2010-e, ali to ne znači da nije pokušao, počevši od angažmana neobično zvučne glumačke ekipe uz Cagea kakvu njegovi recentniji filmovi baš i nisu okupili (Laurence Fishburne, Barry Pepper, Cole Hauser, Adam Goldberg, Leslie Bibb, Clifton Collins Jr.).

Najveća zanimljivost tiče se tretmana likova u odnosu na samu drogu – nema središnjeg protagonista. Sve je podređeno kokainu i mehanici raspačavanja od ruralne Južne Amerike do urbanog ostatka svijeta, odnosno reperkusijama kokainskog šverc-komerca, neprekinuta lanca međunarodne trgovine drogom, malim kotačićima jednog moćnog, destruktivnog stroja koji melje sve pred sobom (predoziranja itd).

Likovi su bezimeni, nazvani The Cook, The Man, The Boss, The Enforcer, The Snitch, The Agent in Charge, The Farmer. Droga, pak, ima ime i o njoj i njezinoj čistoći, cijeni po kilogramu, naveliko se priča, dok o likovima jedva da doznajemo išta. Ona je vrag iz naslova "Udruženi s vragom", glavni lik, a Cage, Fishburne i svi ostali su sporedni, ponekad na svoju štetu i štetu nerijetko narativno i karakterno raštrkanog, nefokusiranog filma.

Cabell je odabrao dobru ekipu, ali napravio krivi casting u slučaju Cagea i Fishburnea, iako je zasigurno to izveo namjerno u "against-type" maniri. Fishburne igra lika kakav bi bolje odgovarao Cageu – ovisan o kokainu i prostitutkama, pijan, urokan, sav znojan, maničan, buljavih očiju, pušten s glumačkog lanca.

S druge strane, Cage je zauzdan, smiren, malodušan, običan, čak i preobičan, tj. jedva pamtljiv, sve samo ne nezaboravan, kakav i film u konačnici postaje. Da su Cage i Fishburne obrnuli uloge, "Running With The Devil" bi se glumački udružio s vragom i ne bi ispao ovako ordinaran.
