Vapaj upomoć kroz vrijeme odaslan je tijekom finala Svjetskog nogometnog prvenstva u Kataru 2022. godine. Utakmica između Brazila i Francuske (?) biva prekinuta kad iz budućnosti stignu vojnici u tamnim odorama i vremeplov ih ostavi nasred terena.

Na stadionu, kao i pred malim ekranima, u obitelji Dana Forestera (Chris Pratt), zavladalo je komešanje. Što se događa i tko su došljaci, kolektivno je neizgovoreno pitanje. "Mi smo vi, 30 godina u budućnosti. Vodimo rat i gubimo ga", upozorava svijet vojnikinja (Jasmine Mathews) i apelira na novačenje za spas ljudske rase.

Krvožedni izvanzemaljski monstrumi pokorili su, doznajemo, najveći dio planeta 2051. i na životu je ostalo samo pola milijuna ljudi. Ostat će ih i manje ako se preživjeli ljudi ne ujedine protiv zajedničkog neprijatelja.

Tako započinje SF akcijski spektakl "The Tomorrow War" ("Rat sutrašnjice"), dosad najveći blockbuster premijerno pušten na Amazonu.

"The Tomorrow War" izvorno je bio projekt Paramount Picturesa, planiran za kina, ali hollywoodski studio brzopleto je prodao film Amazonu kad su krenule koronske odgode premijera, kao što je prodao još neke svoje naslove tom streameru ("Without Remorse") ili Netflixu ("The Lovebirds").

Pritom se Paramount zeznuo jer je do ovogodišnje srpanjske premijere filma "The Tomorrow War" pokrenuo vlastiti streaming servis Paramount+. Reklo bi se da Paramount nije vidio budućnost u tom smislu, ali možda je prorekao finalista SP-a u Kataru dogodine (Brazil), a Amazon je mudro tempirao "The Tomorrow War" dok traje EP da ulijetanje vojnika budućnosti na nogometni teren bude aktualnije.

To je takoreći najvizionarskije i najoriginalnije što se može reći u kontekstu "The Tomorrow War". Jer, "live action" prvijenac redatelja Chrisa McKaya (animirani biser "Lego Batman Film") izgleda kao da ga je složio streaming algoritam na temu SF akcijske invazije "alienskih" čudovišta na Zemlju, zbog čega se u kućnom kinu, na Amazonu, osjeća kao kod kuće, premda pozamašnim budžetom i digitaliziranom akcijom na većoj skali gotovo da naginje blockbusteru za IMAX formate.

"Aliens", "Predator(i)", "Svemirski marinci", "Na rubu budućnosti"... pomiješani su i preslikani u ovaj film. Uvodna scena Foresterova ateriranja na Zemlju duguje "s neba pa u rebra" uvodu "Predatorsa" s Adrienom Brodyjem. Čudovišta se doimaju ili ponašaju kao Alieni, Predatori, tj. monstrumi iz Verhoevenovih "Starship Troopersa" i "Edge Of Tomorrow", kinohita Douga Limana s Tomom Cruiseom od kojeg je preuzeo igru s vremenom.

U jednoj sceni, primjerice, tim vojnika pronaći će leševe ljudi obješene unutar neke zgrade kao u "Predatoru 2". Međutim, "The Tomorrow War" od pozajmica ne uspijeva stvoriti vlastiti identitet ili barem identitet računalno generiranih čudovišta, generičkog dizajnerskog spoja svih monstruma bliže i dalje jučerašnjice, od navedenih do "Stranger Things", "Venoma" i "A Quiet Place".

"Mi smo hrana, oni su gladni", kaže netko od vojnika, pripremajući se za pojavu monstruma koji ubijaju i žderu sve pred sobom. Umjereno uzbudljiv i zanimljiv film nema ("verhoevenovski") osjećaj za satiru američkog vojačenja i vojne destrukcije, iako je satira bila McKayevo najjače oružje u "Lego Batmanu", a i čudovišta su kompjutorski manje uvjerljiva od onih u "Svemirskim marincima" iz davne 1997. godine.

Nedostaje mu i žanrovske samosvijesti "Na rubu budućnosti" da ublaži izostanak satire, ne računajući štosnu scenu kad vojnik (Sam Richardson) komentira "Drago mi je da Will Smith nije živ da vidi ovo", suočen s apokaliptičnim prizorom ruševina američkog velegrada budućnosti na tragu blockbustera Rolanda Emmericha ("Dan nezavisnosti", "Dan poslije sutra") i Michaela Baya (serijal "Transformers").

Ni simpatični Pratt nije odveć uvjerljiv kao bivši vojnik i predvodnik borbe za sutrašnjicu sa strojnicom u ruci, za razliku od njegova punca Schwarzeneggera. Slično mnogim mlađim zvijezdama današnjice, Pratt funkcionira u "Jurskim svjetovima" i "Čuvarima galaksije" kao dio ansambla, ali nije tzv. nosač filma ili barem blockbustera ovakvog tipa.

Akcija znade kratko bljesnuti kreativnošću, kao u produženoj sceni iz uvoda kad vremeplov izbaci vojnike iznad grada i mnogi od njih neće pogoditi bazen na krovu zgrade, no spektakl većinski puca od piksela, potencirajući vizualnu generičnost i manjak emocija prema likovima u opasnosti.

Ipak, mrvicu emocije "The Tomorrow War" uspijeva proizvesti u odnosu Forestera i njegove odrasle kćeri iz budućnosti (Yvonne Strahovski), koja je imala devet godina kad ju je zadnji put vidio. Motiv putovanja kroz vrijeme oduvijek je filozofski i metaforički potentan.

Dio tog potencijala krije se u rečenici "Govoriš o dijelu života koji nisam živio", odnosno alegorijskom čitanju priče o današnjem sprječavanju rata sutrašnjice i žrtvovanju za buduće generacije. (Prek)sutrašnji rat u stvarnosti može se prenijeti na nešto što se već danas događa – klimatske promjene i pandemiju. Dan poslije sutra je novi dan?

Premijera na godišnjicu 'Dana nezavisnosti'
"The Tomorrow War" izlazi na 25. godišnjicu megahita "Independence Day", ali mala je šansa da će ostvariti sličan učinak i postati fenomen, iako mu u prilog ide sve glasnije šuškanje o postojanju aliena i pripadajućih videa NASA-e i Pentagona.

Vapaj upomoć kroz vrijeme odaslan je tijekom finala Svjetskog nogometnog prvenstva u Kataru 2022. godine. Utakmica između Brazila i Francuske (?) biva prekinuta kad iz budućnosti stignu vojnici u tamnim odorama i vremeplov ih ostavi nasred terena.

Na stadionu, kao i pred malim ekranima, u obitelji Dana Forestera (Chris Pratt), zavladalo je komešanje. Što se događa i tko su došljaci, kolektivno je neizgovoreno pitanje. "Mi smo vi, 30 godina u budućnosti. Vodimo rat i gubimo ga", upozorava svijet vojnikinja (Jasmine Mathews) i apelira na novačenje za spas ljudske rase.

Krvožedni izvanzemaljski monstrumi pokorili su, doznajemo, najveći dio planeta 2051. i na životu je ostalo samo pola milijuna ljudi. Ostat će ih i manje ako se preživjeli ljudi ne ujedine protiv zajedničkog neprijatelja.

Tako započinje SF akcijski spektakl "The Tomorrow War" ("Rat sutrašnjice"), dosad najveći blockbuster premijerno pušten na Amazonu.

"The Tomorrow War" izvorno je bio projekt Paramount Picturesa, planiran za kina, ali hollywoodski studio brzopleto je prodao film Amazonu kad su krenule koronske odgode premijera, kao što je prodao još neke svoje naslove tom streameru ("Without Remorse") ili Netflixu ("The Lovebirds").

Pritom se Paramount zeznuo jer je do ovogodišnje srpanjske premijere filma "The Tomorrow War" pokrenuo vlastiti streaming servis Paramount+. Reklo bi se da Paramount nije vidio budućnost u tom smislu, ali možda je prorekao finalista SP-a u Kataru dogodine (Brazil), a Amazon je mudro tempirao "The Tomorrow War" dok traje EP da ulijetanje vojnika budućnosti na nogometni teren bude aktualnije.

To je takoreći najvizionarskije i najoriginalnije što se može reći u kontekstu "The Tomorrow War". Jer, "live action" prvijenac redatelja Chrisa McKaya (animirani biser "Lego Batman Film") izgleda kao da ga je složio streaming algoritam na temu SF akcijske invazije "alienskih" čudovišta na Zemlju, zbog čega se u kućnom kinu, na Amazonu, osjeća kao kod kuće, premda pozamašnim budžetom i digitaliziranom akcijom na većoj skali gotovo da naginje blockbusteru za IMAX formate.

"Aliens", "Predator(i)", "Svemirski marinci", "Na rubu budućnosti"... pomiješani su i preslikani u ovaj film. Uvodna scena Foresterova ateriranja na Zemlju duguje "s neba pa u rebra" uvodu "Predatorsa" s Adrienom Brodyjem. Čudovišta se doimaju ili ponašaju kao Alieni, Predatori, tj. monstrumi iz Verhoevenovih "Starship Troopersa" i "Edge Of Tomorrow", kinohita Douga Limana s Tomom Cruiseom od kojeg je preuzeo igru s vremenom.

U jednoj sceni, primjerice, tim vojnika pronaći će leševe ljudi obješene unutar neke zgrade kao u "Predatoru 2". Međutim, "The Tomorrow War" od pozajmica ne uspijeva stvoriti vlastiti identitet ili barem identitet računalno generiranih čudovišta, generičkog dizajnerskog spoja svih monstruma bliže i dalje jučerašnjice, od navedenih do "Stranger Things", "Venoma" i "A Quiet Place".

"Mi smo hrana, oni su gladni", kaže netko od vojnika, pripremajući se za pojavu monstruma koji ubijaju i žderu sve pred sobom. Umjereno uzbudljiv i zanimljiv film nema ("verhoevenovski") osjećaj za satiru američkog vojačenja i vojne destrukcije, iako je satira bila McKayevo najjače oružje u "Lego Batmanu", a i čudovišta su kompjutorski manje uvjerljiva od onih u "Svemirskim marincima" iz davne 1997. godine.

Nedostaje mu i žanrovske samosvijesti "Na rubu budućnosti" da ublaži izostanak satire, ne računajući štosnu scenu kad vojnik (Sam Richardson) komentira "Drago mi je da Will Smith nije živ da vidi ovo", suočen s apokaliptičnim prizorom ruševina američkog velegrada budućnosti na tragu blockbustera Rolanda Emmericha ("Dan nezavisnosti", "Dan poslije sutra") i Michaela Baya (serijal "Transformers").

Ni simpatični Pratt nije odveć uvjerljiv kao bivši vojnik i predvodnik borbe za sutrašnjicu sa strojnicom u ruci, za razliku od njegova punca Schwarzeneggera. Slično mnogim mlađim zvijezdama današnjice, Pratt funkcionira u "Jurskim svjetovima" i "Čuvarima galaksije" kao dio ansambla, ali nije tzv. nosač filma ili barem blockbustera ovakvog tipa.

Akcija znade kratko bljesnuti kreativnošću, kao u produženoj sceni iz uvoda kad vremeplov izbaci vojnike iznad grada i mnogi od njih neće pogoditi bazen na krovu zgrade, no spektakl većinski puca od piksela, potencirajući vizualnu generičnost i manjak emocija prema likovima u opasnosti.

Ipak, mrvicu emocije "The Tomorrow War" uspijeva proizvesti u odnosu Forestera i njegove odrasle kćeri iz budućnosti (Yvonne Strahovski), koja je imala devet godina kad ju je zadnji put vidio. Motiv putovanja kroz vrijeme oduvijek je filozofski i metaforički potentan.

Dio tog potencijala krije se u rečenici "Govoriš o dijelu života koji nisam živio", odnosno alegorijskom čitanju priče o današnjem sprječavanju rata sutrašnjice i žrtvovanju za buduće generacije. (Prek)sutrašnji rat u stvarnosti može se prenijeti na nešto što se već danas događa – klimatske promjene i pandemiju. Dan poslije sutra je novi dan?

Premijera na godišnjicu 'Dana nezavisnosti'
"The Tomorrow War" izlazi na 25. godišnjicu megahita "Independence Day", ali mala je šansa da će ostvariti sličan učinak i postati fenomen, iako mu u prilog ide sve glasnije šuškanje o postojanju aliena i pripadajućih videa NASA-e i Pentagona.
