Preživljavanje u snježnoj divljini, na milost i nemilost majke prirode, oduvijek je bilo zahvalan motiv za film, posebice ako je priča utemeljena na istinitim događajima. Samo smo posljednjih nekoliko godina gledali avanturističke drame o opstanku na temperaturama ispod ništice, od "Povratnika" s Leonardom DiCapriom preko "Planine između nas" s parom Idris Elba-Kate Winslet do "Artktika" s Madsom Mikkelsenom.

Odnedavno na Netflixu gledamo i slično žanrirani film "Protiv leda" ("Against The Ice"), nadahnut danskom polarnom ekspedicijom iz 1909. godine. Mikkelsen ne glumi u "Protiv leda", već jedna druga danska zvijezda, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ("Igra prijestolja", "Lovci na glave", "Druga šansa" "Zakon jačeg", "Domino", "Ušutkivanje", "Okus gladi"), ali glavni lik nosi njegovo prezime u filmu inspiriranom memorarima "Two Against The Ice".

Upravo Coster-Waldau utjelovljuje danskog istraživača i autora spomenutih memoara Ejnara Mikkelsena koji je poveo ekspediciju na sjeverno-istočni Grenland kako bi preduhitrio Amerikance u potraživanju tog teritorija. Usput bi i dokazao da je Grenland jedan komad zemlje, a ne dva odvojena kako su mislili Amerikanci.

Nakon što se jedan brod nasukao na ledu, Mikkelsen je naposlijetku krenuo na put preko nepristupačnog kopna samo s mladim mehaničarem Ivrom Iversonom (Joe Cole; "Peaky Blinders", "Bande Londona"). Da ih čeka preživljavanje, jasno je kad Iversen dobije upozorenje da se ne smije sprijateljiti s psima za vuču jer će, ako situacija to nalaže, možda morati upucati najslabijeg od njih i njime nahraniti druge.

Upozorenje je izdano za njega, ali i ljubitelje životinja, tj. pasa koji trebaju znati da će par haskija biti ozlijeđeno i(li) stradati tijekom ekspedicije. Naravno, nisu stradali pravi psi, no scene su poprilično uvjerljive s obzirom da režiser Peter Flinth u filmu najvećim dijelom ne koristi računalno animirane životinje kao što ih je koristio Chris Sanders u novoj verziji "Zova divljine", osim što je polarni medvjed, neminovno, kompjuterski generiran, ne toliko zbog opasnosti, koliko zbog toga što je postao ugrožena vrsta.

"Against The Ice" nije "family friendly" slikovnica, nego realistična "survival" drama kojoj u prilog ide i snimanje na stvarnim lokacijama na Grenlandu i Islandu, što daje na uvjerljivosti zbivanja. Mnogi Netflixovi filmovi snimaju se ispred zelenog ekrana, ali ne i "Protiv leda".

U tom pogledu film hvalevrijedno ide protiv leda/dominantne struje, ako već ne ide kontra žanra. Ništa u "Against The Ice" nema što niste vidjeli u sličnim ledenim "survival" filmovima, uključujući one s potpisom producenta Baltasara Kormakura ("Everest"), pa i serijama tipa "Sjeverne vode".

Coster-Waldau je na sebe preuzeo i ulogu koscenarista i producenta, a scenarij je pun općih mjesta i karakterizacija, pa je, primjerice, danski ministar kulture Neergard (Charles Dance; "Alien 3", "Posljednji akcijski junak", s Coster-Waldauom glumio u "GOT-u") stvoren da ga gledatelj zamrzi kad nabada o sudbini istraživača u nekoj toploj prostoriji.

Opća mjesta su možda i rezultat toga što je Mikkelsen svojim preživljavanjem postavio "template" za sve buduće "survival" filmove. "Protiv leda", tako, djeluje kao svojevrsna "survival" verzija "Johna Cartera" i "Valeriana i grada tisuću planeta", u smislu da su ga mnogi preduhitrili kao i SF-ove koji su stigli u kina daleko poslije "Ratova zvijezda" i "Avatara", nastalih pod utjecajem njihovih predložaka.

U filmu imamo čak i scenu napada (polarnog) medvjeda, gotovo kao preslikanu iz "Revenanta", samo što se odvija na ledu. Bliski susret će doživjeti Mikkelsen i preživjeti ga; kasnije medo napada i brvnaru s njim i Iversonom unutra. Ipak, ako je prva polovica standardna za ovaj tip tjelesnog "survivala", druga je interesantna u psihološkom smislu.

Istraživači silaze s uma i pate od halucinacija sa sve većim prolaskom vremena (dan 48, 471, 865...), vide spasilačke balone, žene koje ih čekaju kod kuće, govore o kanibalizmu itd. Tad "Against The Ice" postaje drama s elementima psihološkog horora koja se odvija na Grenlandu, a mogla bi se odvijati i u svemiru ("Solaris").

Preživljavanje u snježnoj divljini, na milost i nemilost majke prirode, oduvijek je bilo zahvalan motiv za film, posebice ako je priča utemeljena na istinitim događajima. Samo smo posljednjih nekoliko godina gledali avanturističke drame o opstanku na temperaturama ispod ništice, od "Povratnika" s Leonardom DiCapriom preko "Planine između nas" s parom Idris Elba-Kate Winslet do "Artktika" s Madsom Mikkelsenom.

Odnedavno na Netflixu gledamo i slično žanrirani film "Protiv leda" ("Against The Ice"), nadahnut danskom polarnom ekspedicijom iz 1909. godine. Mikkelsen ne glumi u "Protiv leda", već jedna druga danska zvijezda, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ("Igra prijestolja", "Lovci na glave", "Druga šansa" "Zakon jačeg", "Domino", "Ušutkivanje", "Okus gladi"), ali glavni lik nosi njegovo prezime u filmu inspiriranom memorarima "Two Against The Ice".

Upravo Coster-Waldau utjelovljuje danskog istraživača i autora spomenutih memoara Ejnara Mikkelsena koji je poveo ekspediciju na sjeverno-istočni Grenland kako bi preduhitrio Amerikance u potraživanju tog teritorija. Usput bi i dokazao da je Grenland jedan komad zemlje, a ne dva odvojena kako su mislili Amerikanci.

Nakon što se jedan brod nasukao na ledu, Mikkelsen je naposlijetku krenuo na put preko nepristupačnog kopna samo s mladim mehaničarem Ivrom Iversonom (Joe Cole; "Peaky Blinders", "Bande Londona"). Da ih čeka preživljavanje, jasno je kad Iversen dobije upozorenje da se ne smije sprijateljiti s psima za vuču jer će, ako situacija to nalaže, možda morati upucati najslabijeg od njih i njime nahraniti druge.

Upozorenje je izdano za njega, ali i ljubitelje životinja, tj. pasa koji trebaju znati da će par haskija biti ozlijeđeno i(li) stradati tijekom ekspedicije. Naravno, nisu stradali pravi psi, no scene su poprilično uvjerljive s obzirom da režiser Peter Flinth u filmu najvećim dijelom ne koristi računalno animirane životinje kao što ih je koristio Chris Sanders u novoj verziji "Zova divljine", osim što je polarni medvjed, neminovno, kompjuterski generiran, ne toliko zbog opasnosti, koliko zbog toga što je postao ugrožena vrsta.

"Against The Ice" nije "family friendly" slikovnica, nego realistična "survival" drama kojoj u prilog ide i snimanje na stvarnim lokacijama na Grenlandu i Islandu, što daje na uvjerljivosti zbivanja. Mnogi Netflixovi filmovi snimaju se ispred zelenog ekrana, ali ne i "Protiv leda".

U tom pogledu film hvalevrijedno ide protiv leda/dominantne struje, ako već ne ide kontra žanra. Ništa u "Against The Ice" nema što niste vidjeli u sličnim ledenim "survival" filmovima, uključujući one s potpisom producenta Baltasara Kormakura ("Everest"), pa i serijama tipa "Sjeverne vode".

Coster-Waldau je na sebe preuzeo i ulogu koscenarista i producenta, a scenarij je pun općih mjesta i karakterizacija, pa je, primjerice, danski ministar kulture Neergard (Charles Dance; "Alien 3", "Posljednji akcijski junak", s Coster-Waldauom glumio u "GOT-u") stvoren da ga gledatelj zamrzi kad nabada o sudbini istraživača u nekoj toploj prostoriji.

Opća mjesta su možda i rezultat toga što je Mikkelsen svojim preživljavanjem postavio "template" za sve buduće "survival" filmove. "Protiv leda", tako, djeluje kao svojevrsna "survival" verzija "Johna Cartera" i "Valeriana i grada tisuću planeta", u smislu da su ga mnogi preduhitrili kao i SF-ove koji su stigli u kina daleko poslije "Ratova zvijezda" i "Avatara", nastalih pod utjecajem njihovih predložaka.

U filmu imamo čak i scenu napada (polarnog) medvjeda, gotovo kao preslikanu iz "Revenanta", samo što se odvija na ledu. Bliski susret će doživjeti Mikkelsen i preživjeti ga; kasnije medo napada i brvnaru s njim i Iversonom unutra. Ipak, ako je prva polovica standardna za ovaj tip tjelesnog "survivala", druga je interesantna u psihološkom smislu.

Istraživači silaze s uma i pate od halucinacija sa sve većim prolaskom vremena (dan 48, 471, 865...), vide spasilačke balone, žene koje ih čekaju kod kuće, govore o kanibalizmu itd. Tad "Against The Ice" postaje drama s elementima psihološkog horora koja se odvija na Grenlandu, a mogla bi se odvijati i u svemiru ("Solaris").
