Muha je uletjela u stan i počela zujati po zraku u trenutku kad se u video ubacivala kaseta "Muhe" Davida Cronenberga ("The Fly", 1986.). To je podsjetilo na moment kad se za "Reflektor" pisala kritika filma "Spider-Man: Povratak kući" s paukom pod "reflektorom", točnije stolnom lampom.

No, poklapanje muhe i "Muhe" znatno je jezovitije. Bilo bi i da se pisao tekst o "Strahu od pauka", kamoli benignom "Spider-Manu". Zujajuće crne insekte prokleto je teško više gledati istim očima nakon Cronenbergova znanstvenofantastičnog tjelesnog horora s ekscentričnim znanstvenikom Sethom Brundleom (Jeff Goldblum) kao odurnom tvorevinom čovjeka i muhe.

Film "The Fly" već je s krilaticom "Be afraid. Be very afraid"/"Samo se plaši, jako se plaši...", koju u jednoj sceni izgovara Sethova djevojka, novinarka Veronica "Ronnie" Quaife (Geena Davis), nagovještavao stravu i užas, tj. budio i još uvijek budi hororsku maštu.

Dijete u filmofilima, upoznato s Cronenbergovim opusom ("Videodrom"), moglo se pitati što ako muha uleti u video i stopi se s kasetom? Ili, krajnje dječje, što ako nas ugrize kao pauk Petera Parkera? Cronenberg daje "cronenbergovski" odgovor na mitologiju Čovjeka-pauka i, uopće, mitologiju (budućih) superjunačkih blockbustera u svome remakeu ili reimaginaciji "Muhe" Kurta Neumanna iz 1958., snimljene prema kratkoj priči Georgea Lengelaana.

Jednom kad se započnu manifestirati efekti stopljene fuzije čovjeka i muhe na molekularno-genetičkom nivou, Seth se osjeća kao superheroj, otkrivajući i testirajući svoje novostečene moći, a "The Fly" se razvija kao "origin story" superjunačkog filma.

Poboljšani Seth je najednom atletski nastrojen, mogao bi biti američki adut za olimpijsku medalju u gimnastici i toliko je jak da šakom može razbiti što god.Ipak, da transformacija čovjeka u Čovjeka-muhu neće biti "spidermanovska", jasno je kad Brundle izazove barskog prvaka u obaranju ruku.

Ne samo da će Seth pobijediti tipa, nego će svojom nadljudskom snagom izazvati vanjski prijelom nesretnikove podlaktice, što Cronenberg i njegov tada kućni ("The Brood", "Scanners", "The Dead Zone", "Videodrome") direktor fotografije Mark Irwin ("Generacija 1999", "RoboCop 2", "Obračun u Malom Tokiju", "Putnik 57") oslikavaju s punokrvnim osjećajem za "body horror" i pripremaju gledatelje na ostatak filma.

Jer, za razliku od "Spider-Mana", nakon gradacije Sethova tijela slijedi potpuna degradacija, doduše polagana. Jedna od najvećih prednosti filma jest Cronenbergova kalibracija strave i užasa atom po atom u kontekstu Brundleova "kafkijanskog" preobražaja u insekta, kao i karakterizacija likova, svedenih takoreći na dvoje, eventualno troje ljudi direktno uvučenih u komorni SF horor gotovo gotičkog tipa.

"Muha" traje 90-ak minuta (druga polovica otpada na transformaciju), a čini se znatno više koliko dobro upoznajemo likove u relativno kratkom vremenskom okviru i postajemo investirani u njih i njihovu tragičnu, emotivnu "ljepotica i zvijer" ljubavnu priču opernog zamaha unutar horora i osjećamo (sa)žaljenje. Cronenberg otvara "The Fly" krajnje netipično, "in medias res": upoznavanjem Setha i Ronnie na nekom domjenku.

Dakle, umjesto da najprije upoznamo Brundlea, njegove ambicije i eksperiment na kojem radi, Cronenberg otkriva znanstvenika tijekom konverzacije i očijukanja s novinarkom, nakon čega je odvodi u doma u svoj laboratorij i pokazuje "nešto će promijeniti svijet i ljudski život kakav znamo" – telepode koje Ronnie podsjećaju na "šminkersku telefonsku govornicu" i "najveću mikrovalnu na svijetu", ali i izgledaju pretkazujuće insektoidno, nalik glavi/očima muhe.

Za početak, Seth će uspješno teleportirati Ronnieinu najlonku iz jednog telepoda u drugi, jer stroj može obrađivati samo nežive predmete. "Što se dogodi ako se teleportiraju živa bića?" pita Ronnie kad sjednu na cheesburger. "Ne želim o tome za jelom", odgovara Brundle. "Ne može biti gore od ovoga", nada se Ronnie, ciljajući na cheesburger.

Može, jer telepod je napravio burger od nesretnog babuna kojemu se izvrnula utroba prilikom teleportacije. Kad znanstvenik doskoči problemu teleportacije živih predmeta i nauči računalo "poeziju mesa" koje bi "trebalo izluditi kompjutor kao (dječji) obrazi bake", teleportirat će samoga sebe nakon uspjeha s drugim babunom, pijan i uzrujan što se Ronnie išla naći s patološki ljubomornim bivšim (John Getz), iako ga se time željela zauvijek riješiti.

Međutim, nešto je pošlo krivo, u telepod je s njim uletjela muha, računalo ih je "spojilo" i Seth polako postaje "Brundlefly" ili "Brundlemuha", a njegova metamorfoza nije za gledanje (filma) uz jelo, naročito kad počne povraćati na svoju hranu prije nego što je pojede.

Tjelesni horor teško da može biti tjelesniji i hororičniji od "Muhe" koja se smjestila u zlatnu "body horror" sredinu između dvije godine starijeg "Terminatora" i godinu mlađeg "RoboCopa". Zasluženo nagrađena Oscarom, groteskna maska Chrisa Walasa je izvanredna u paketu s prostetičkim efektima koji kulminaciju doživljavaju kad se Brundlefly rascijepi, ono malo čovjeka u njemu nestane i Seth postane čudovište, divovski "alienski" insekt.

"The Fly" sigurno ne bi izazivao jednako gađenje tijekom eskalirajuće fizičke degradacije glavnog lika da je snimljen danas pomoću računalno generirane slike. Uznemirujuća degradacija je ekvivalentna mikroskopskom pogledu na proces rastavljanja tijela atom po atom prilikom teleportacije koja uništi i ponovno stvori čovjeka, odnosno molekularnog raspada.

Brundle će biti uništen, stvoren i ponovno uništen kao čovjek pretvaranjem u insekta ("Jesam li živ ili kopija?"). Odbojnost je opipljiva za vrijeme njegove dehumanizacije i deformacije koja potencira tjeskobni strah od suodnosa čovjeka i tehnologije/prirode, nečeg neljudskog i stranog (košmarna scena poroda), ali i krhkosti ljudskog tijela, bolesti, fizičkog propadanja, starenja, neizbježne smrti.

Od grubih, neljudskih dlaka na leđima, do otpadanja nokta, zubi, uha..., Sethovo tijelo se rapidno mijenja i postupno raspada. Isprve se čini da bi Brundle trebao posjetiti dermatologa (neprirodni osip na licu, ljuštenje kože), no kad situacija uzme maha, dojam je da je jako bolestan i da bi to moglo biti zarazno ili da boluje od neke terminalne bolesti koja vodi do potpunog raspadanja i smrti.

Seth spominje da je to "kao verzija raka" i da će se "samo raspasti", ali redatelj "Muhe" je nastavio tamo gdje je stao John Carpenter u "Stvoru" i naslonio se na "Aliense" Jamesa Camerona iz iste 1986. godine. Subverzivni filmaš je nedvojbeno snimio "The Fly" kao alegoriju na drugu bolest koja usmrćuje "iznutra", a bila je tabu da se netko njome direktno pozabavi – tada rastući AIDS.

Napravio je to u vrijeme kad je na filmu dominirao kult tijela neuništivih akcijskih junaka i seksepilnih zvijezda aerobika osamdesetih, subvertirajući ga SF hororom koji je istodobno doslovno i simbolično strašan. Može se reći da je Cronenberg "ubio" dvije muhe jednim hororcem.

Jeff Goldblum i Geena Davis bili su stvarni par za vrijeme snimanja filma, što je potenciralo emocije njihovih likova. Majstor maske Walas režirao je 1989. nastavak "The Fly II" s Ericom Stoltzom u ulozi Sethova sina koji je prošao slabije od Cronebergova filma.

Muha je uletjela u stan i počela zujati po zraku u trenutku kad se u video ubacivala kaseta "Muhe" Davida Cronenberga ("The Fly", 1986.). To je podsjetilo na moment kad se za "Reflektor" pisala kritika filma "Spider-Man: Povratak kući" s paukom pod "reflektorom", točnije stolnom lampom.

No, poklapanje muhe i "Muhe" znatno je jezovitije. Bilo bi i da se pisao tekst o "Strahu od pauka", kamoli benignom "Spider-Manu". Zujajuće crne insekte prokleto je teško više gledati istim očima nakon Cronenbergova znanstvenofantastičnog tjelesnog horora s ekscentričnim znanstvenikom Sethom Brundleom (Jeff Goldblum) kao odurnom tvorevinom čovjeka i muhe.

Film "The Fly" već je s krilaticom "Be afraid. Be very afraid"/"Samo se plaši, jako se plaši...", koju u jednoj sceni izgovara Sethova djevojka, novinarka Veronica "Ronnie" Quaife (Geena Davis), nagovještavao stravu i užas, tj. budio i još uvijek budi hororsku maštu.

Dijete u filmofilima, upoznato s Cronenbergovim opusom ("Videodrom"), moglo se pitati što ako muha uleti u video i stopi se s kasetom? Ili, krajnje dječje, što ako nas ugrize kao pauk Petera Parkera? Cronenberg daje "cronenbergovski" odgovor na mitologiju Čovjeka-pauka i, uopće, mitologiju (budućih) superjunačkih blockbustera u svome remakeu ili reimaginaciji "Muhe" Kurta Neumanna iz 1958., snimljene prema kratkoj priči Georgea Lengelaana.

Jednom kad se započnu manifestirati efekti stopljene fuzije čovjeka i muhe na molekularno-genetičkom nivou, Seth se osjeća kao superheroj, otkrivajući i testirajući svoje novostečene moći, a "The Fly" se razvija kao "origin story" superjunačkog filma.

Poboljšani Seth je najednom atletski nastrojen, mogao bi biti američki adut za olimpijsku medalju u gimnastici i toliko je jak da šakom može razbiti što god.Ipak, da transformacija čovjeka u Čovjeka-muhu neće biti "spidermanovska", jasno je kad Brundle izazove barskog prvaka u obaranju ruku.

Ne samo da će Seth pobijediti tipa, nego će svojom nadljudskom snagom izazvati vanjski prijelom nesretnikove podlaktice, što Cronenberg i njegov tada kućni ("The Brood", "Scanners", "The Dead Zone", "Videodrome") direktor fotografije Mark Irwin ("Generacija 1999", "RoboCop 2", "Obračun u Malom Tokiju", "Putnik 57") oslikavaju s punokrvnim osjećajem za "body horror" i pripremaju gledatelje na ostatak filma.

Jer, za razliku od "Spider-Mana", nakon gradacije Sethova tijela slijedi potpuna degradacija, doduše polagana. Jedna od najvećih prednosti filma jest Cronenbergova kalibracija strave i užasa atom po atom u kontekstu Brundleova "kafkijanskog" preobražaja u insekta, kao i karakterizacija likova, svedenih takoreći na dvoje, eventualno troje ljudi direktno uvučenih u komorni SF horor gotovo gotičkog tipa.

"Muha" traje 90-ak minuta (druga polovica otpada na transformaciju), a čini se znatno više koliko dobro upoznajemo likove u relativno kratkom vremenskom okviru i postajemo investirani u njih i njihovu tragičnu, emotivnu "ljepotica i zvijer" ljubavnu priču opernog zamaha unutar horora i osjećamo (sa)žaljenje. Cronenberg otvara "The Fly" krajnje netipično, "in medias res": upoznavanjem Setha i Ronnie na nekom domjenku.

Dakle, umjesto da najprije upoznamo Brundlea, njegove ambicije i eksperiment na kojem radi, Cronenberg otkriva znanstvenika tijekom konverzacije i očijukanja s novinarkom, nakon čega je odvodi u doma u svoj laboratorij i pokazuje "nešto će promijeniti svijet i ljudski život kakav znamo" – telepode koje Ronnie podsjećaju na "šminkersku telefonsku govornicu" i "najveću mikrovalnu na svijetu", ali i izgledaju pretkazujuće insektoidno, nalik glavi/očima muhe.

Za početak, Seth će uspješno teleportirati Ronnieinu najlonku iz jednog telepoda u drugi, jer stroj može obrađivati samo nežive predmete. "Što se dogodi ako se teleportiraju živa bića?" pita Ronnie kad sjednu na cheesburger. "Ne želim o tome za jelom", odgovara Brundle. "Ne može biti gore od ovoga", nada se Ronnie, ciljajući na cheesburger.

Može, jer telepod je napravio burger od nesretnog babuna kojemu se izvrnula utroba prilikom teleportacije. Kad znanstvenik doskoči problemu teleportacije živih predmeta i nauči računalo "poeziju mesa" koje bi "trebalo izluditi kompjutor kao (dječji) obrazi bake", teleportirat će samoga sebe nakon uspjeha s drugim babunom, pijan i uzrujan što se Ronnie išla naći s patološki ljubomornim bivšim (John Getz), iako ga se time željela zauvijek riješiti.

Međutim, nešto je pošlo krivo, u telepod je s njim uletjela muha, računalo ih je "spojilo" i Seth polako postaje "Brundlefly" ili "Brundlemuha", a njegova metamorfoza nije za gledanje (filma) uz jelo, naročito kad počne povraćati na svoju hranu prije nego što je pojede.

Tjelesni horor teško da može biti tjelesniji i hororičniji od "Muhe" koja se smjestila u zlatnu "body horror" sredinu između dvije godine starijeg "Terminatora" i godinu mlađeg "RoboCopa". Zasluženo nagrađena Oscarom, groteskna maska Chrisa Walasa je izvanredna u paketu s prostetičkim efektima koji kulminaciju doživljavaju kad se Brundlefly rascijepi, ono malo čovjeka u njemu nestane i Seth postane čudovište, divovski "alienski" insekt.

"The Fly" sigurno ne bi izazivao jednako gađenje tijekom eskalirajuće fizičke degradacije glavnog lika da je snimljen danas pomoću računalno generirane slike. Uznemirujuća degradacija je ekvivalentna mikroskopskom pogledu na proces rastavljanja tijela atom po atom prilikom teleportacije koja uništi i ponovno stvori čovjeka, odnosno molekularnog raspada.

Brundle će biti uništen, stvoren i ponovno uništen kao čovjek pretvaranjem u insekta ("Jesam li živ ili kopija?"). Odbojnost je opipljiva za vrijeme njegove dehumanizacije i deformacije koja potencira tjeskobni strah od suodnosa čovjeka i tehnologije/prirode, nečeg neljudskog i stranog (košmarna scena poroda), ali i krhkosti ljudskog tijela, bolesti, fizičkog propadanja, starenja, neizbježne smrti.

Od grubih, neljudskih dlaka na leđima, do otpadanja nokta, zubi, uha..., Sethovo tijelo se rapidno mijenja i postupno raspada. Isprve se čini da bi Brundle trebao posjetiti dermatologa (neprirodni osip na licu, ljuštenje kože), no kad situacija uzme maha, dojam je da je jako bolestan i da bi to moglo biti zarazno ili da boluje od neke terminalne bolesti koja vodi do potpunog raspadanja i smrti.

Seth spominje da je to "kao verzija raka" i da će se "samo raspasti", ali redatelj "Muhe" je nastavio tamo gdje je stao John Carpenter u "Stvoru" i naslonio se na "Aliense" Jamesa Camerona iz iste 1986. godine. Subverzivni filmaš je nedvojbeno snimio "The Fly" kao alegoriju na drugu bolest koja usmrćuje "iznutra", a bila je tabu da se netko njome direktno pozabavi – tada rastući AIDS.

Napravio je to u vrijeme kad je na filmu dominirao kult tijela neuništivih akcijskih junaka i seksepilnih zvijezda aerobika osamdesetih, subvertirajući ga SF hororom koji je istodobno doslovno i simbolično strašan. Može se reći da je Cronenberg "ubio" dvije muhe jednim hororcem.

Jeff Goldblum i Geena Davis bili su stvarni par za vrijeme snimanja filma, što je potenciralo emocije njihovih likova. Majstor maske Walas režirao je 1989. nastavak "The Fly II" s Ericom Stoltzom u ulozi Sethova sina koji je prošao slabije od Cronebergova filma.
