“Drive My Car” Ryusukea Hamaguchija dovezao je japansku kinematografiju u prvi plan nakon osvajanja Oscara u kategoriji međunarodnog filma u prvom kvartalu 2022. godine. To je tek drugi japanski osvajač Oscara u povijesti (prvi su “Odlasci”) i jedan od samo četiri novomilenijska filma “made in Japan” koji su se našli u utrci za zlatni kipić; preostala dva su “Sumrak samuraja” i “Obiteljske veze”.

Možda bi “Ljubavni život” (“Love Life”) redatelja Kôjija Fukade, kao duhovni nasljednik filma “Drive My Car”, imao više sreće s nominacijom od “Plana 75”, ali jasno je zašto je potonji odabran za japanskog oskarovskog kandidata.

“Love Life” je podjednako režijski odmjeren i žanrovski pozicioniran kao drama s elementima tragedije, a pokriva slične teme kao “Drive My Car” (tuga i samoća izazvana gubitkom supruge, tj. sina) pa Japanci nisu htjeli riskirati da Akademijini glasači imaju neku vrstu “deja vu” osjećaja.

No, slične teme ne podrazumijevaju da je film isti. Fukada se odlučuje na drukčije stupnjevanje efekata gubitka koji u “Ljubavnom životu” imaju vlastite nijanse usamljenosti i tuge. Gubitak osmogodišnjeg sina Keite (Tetsuda Shimada) zadesit će mladu majku Taeko (Fumino Kimura), udanu za Jira (Kento Nagayama), i to baš na dan kad obitelj slavi malčevu pobjedu u strateškoj igri shakespeareovski znakovito zvanoj “Othello” i 65. rođendan njezina svekra (Tomoro Taguchi) koji baš i ne odobrava sinov brak.

Nesretni Keita se okliznuo, udario glavom i utopio u kadi dok su odrasli pjevali karaoke u susjednoj sobi. Utučena Taeko ne može sebi oprostiti što nije ispraznila kadu. “Nemoj si predbacivati. Moraš ostati jaka”, pokušava je utješiti svekrva (Misuzu Kanno).

Sprovod je osobito devastirajuć jer se niotkuda pojavljuje gluhonijemi Park (Atom Sunada), Keitin otac i njezin bivši suprug koji ih je napustio. Park ošamari Taeko i napravi scenu shrvan od boli. Ipak, bivši supružnici ostat će u kontaktu jer on se želi prijaviti za socijalnu skrb, a ona je voditeljica službe i jedina poznaje znakovni jezik, stoga mu pristaje pomoći kad se ispriča što ju je napustio i udario.

Jiru to nije drago i nalazi se s bivšom djevojkom (Hirona Yamazaki) za koju se trebao vjenčati, ali ju je prevario s Taeko. Ako vam se ove melodramske komplikacije i zavrzlame čine sapuničastima, ne bojte se – “Love Life” nije sapunica. Drama je suptilna, ljudska i kompleksna, često neizgovorenih osjećaja ljubavi, samoće, zamjeranja i (o)kajanja, emocija koje tinjaju ispod površine.

Likovi promjenjivih, neusidrenih srca izgovaraju osjećaje na znakovnom jeziku da drugi ne shvaćaju što govore (Parkovo “Oprosti za oboje...”) ili govore ono što misle kad ih drugi ne mogu čuti (Jiro – Park), a likovima nije strano i da ne gledaju jedni druge u oči dok razgovaraju (Jiro i Taeko).

Najdirektnijom se pokazuje Jirova bivša kad prizna kako je željela da im se nešto loše dogodi i onda se dogodilo to što se dogodilo. Bolna tuga nadvija se nad nježno režiranim filmom, ona je prodiruća i opipljiva u sjetnim i meditativnim kadrovima gdje redatelj dojmljivo hvata pomiješane osjećaje likova kojima je teško nositi se s gubitkom, preboljeti i krenuti dalje. “Ljubavni život” je životan komad drame.

Od Venecije do ZFF-a

Film je imao svjetsku premijeru na Venecijanskom festivalu, a hrvatsku na ZFF-u. Inspiriran je istoimenom pjesmom japanske pop i jazz kantautorice Akiko Yano iz 1991. godine.

“Drive My Car” Ryusukea Hamaguchija dovezao je japansku kinematografiju u prvi plan nakon osvajanja Oscara u kategoriji međunarodnog filma u prvom kvartalu 2022. godine. To je tek drugi japanski osvajač Oscara u povijesti (prvi su “Odlasci”) i jedan od samo četiri novomilenijska filma “made in Japan” koji su se našli u utrci za zlatni kipić; preostala dva su “Sumrak samuraja” i “Obiteljske veze”.

Možda bi “Ljubavni život” (“Love Life”) redatelja Kôjija Fukade, kao duhovni nasljednik filma “Drive My Car”, imao više sreće s nominacijom od “Plana 75”, ali jasno je zašto je potonji odabran za japanskog oskarovskog kandidata.

“Love Life” je podjednako režijski odmjeren i žanrovski pozicioniran kao drama s elementima tragedije, a pokriva slične teme kao “Drive My Car” (tuga i samoća izazvana gubitkom supruge, tj. sina) pa Japanci nisu htjeli riskirati da Akademijini glasači imaju neku vrstu “deja vu” osjećaja.

No, slične teme ne podrazumijevaju da je film isti. Fukada se odlučuje na drukčije stupnjevanje efekata gubitka koji u “Ljubavnom životu” imaju vlastite nijanse usamljenosti i tuge. Gubitak osmogodišnjeg sina Keite (Tetsuda Shimada) zadesit će mladu majku Taeko (Fumino Kimura), udanu za Jira (Kento Nagayama), i to baš na dan kad obitelj slavi malčevu pobjedu u strateškoj igri shakespeareovski znakovito zvanoj “Othello” i 65. rođendan njezina svekra (Tomoro Taguchi) koji baš i ne odobrava sinov brak.

Nesretni Keita se okliznuo, udario glavom i utopio u kadi dok su odrasli pjevali karaoke u susjednoj sobi. Utučena Taeko ne može sebi oprostiti što nije ispraznila kadu. “Nemoj si predbacivati. Moraš ostati jaka”, pokušava je utješiti svekrva (Misuzu Kanno).

Sprovod je osobito devastirajuć jer se niotkuda pojavljuje gluhonijemi Park (Atom Sunada), Keitin otac i njezin bivši suprug koji ih je napustio. Park ošamari Taeko i napravi scenu shrvan od boli. Ipak, bivši supružnici ostat će u kontaktu jer on se želi prijaviti za socijalnu skrb, a ona je voditeljica službe i jedina poznaje znakovni jezik, stoga mu pristaje pomoći kad se ispriča što ju je napustio i udario.

Jiru to nije drago i nalazi se s bivšom djevojkom (Hirona Yamazaki) za koju se trebao vjenčati, ali ju je prevario s Taeko. Ako vam se ove melodramske komplikacije i zavrzlame čine sapuničastima, ne bojte se – “Love Life” nije sapunica. Drama je suptilna, ljudska i kompleksna, često neizgovorenih osjećaja ljubavi, samoće, zamjeranja i (o)kajanja, emocija koje tinjaju ispod površine.

Likovi promjenjivih, neusidrenih srca izgovaraju osjećaje na znakovnom jeziku da drugi ne shvaćaju što govore (Parkovo “Oprosti za oboje...”) ili govore ono što misle kad ih drugi ne mogu čuti (Jiro – Park), a likovima nije strano i da ne gledaju jedni druge u oči dok razgovaraju (Jiro i Taeko).

Najdirektnijom se pokazuje Jirova bivša kad prizna kako je željela da im se nešto loše dogodi i onda se dogodilo to što se dogodilo. Bolna tuga nadvija se nad nježno režiranim filmom, ona je prodiruća i opipljiva u sjetnim i meditativnim kadrovima gdje redatelj dojmljivo hvata pomiješane osjećaje likova kojima je teško nositi se s gubitkom, preboljeti i krenuti dalje. “Ljubavni život” je životan komad drame.

Od Venecije do ZFF-a

Film je imao svjetsku premijeru na Venecijanskom festivalu, a hrvatsku na ZFF-u. Inspiriran je istoimenom pjesmom japanske pop i jazz kantautorice Akiko Yano iz 1991. godine.
