Netko može pomisliti da će gledati "Igre gladi " ili "Lov " u uvodu filma "Dvojnica" ("Dual"). Ispred očiju publike odvija se nekakvo natjecanje na život i smrt između dvojice sudionika. Jednog od njih, zanimljivo, glumi Theo James iz "hunger-gamesovskog " serijala "Različita ".
Odapinju se strijele iz samostrela i u predjelu prednjeg ramena pogađaju Jamesova natjecatelja koji se, ranjen, odluči na očajnički juriš s nožem u ruci i uspijeva ubiti protivnika. No, protivnik je njegova slika i prilika. "Podsjetite me, jeste li original ili dvojnik", pita novinarka pobjednika dvoboja i doda "Zbunjujuće je kad isto izgledate".

Tada je jasno da "Dvojnica" nije klon "Igara gladi ", ali gledatelj još uvijek može misliti da ga čeka futuristički SF triler o kloniranju tipa "Šesti dan " i "Otok". "Dual" se odvija u bliskoj budućnosti gdje je kloniranje ljudi moguće.
Postoji kompanija koja umirućem pojedincu omogućava da se klonira kako bi dvojnici zauzeli njegovo/njezino mjesto i njihovi bližnji ne bi patili.
Kad dozna da će je "izuzetno rijetka i neizlječiva bolest" odvesti u smrt, Sarah (Karen Gillan ) pristaje na kloniranje, no njezina dvojnica joj, kao u "The 6th Day", polako krade život, preuzima njezin odnos s momkom (Beulah Koale ) i majkom (Maija Paunio ) pretvarajući se da je ona.
Intrigantno je načet motiv da nas ljudi pokušavaju pretvoriti u našu poboljšanu verziju, nekoga po njihovom ukusu, kao majka i momak Sarahinu dvojnicu kojoj će ubrzo početi smetati slične stvari kakve su smetale Sarah. Tu negdje postaje jasno da redatelja Rileyja Stearnsa više interesira antižanrovska satira, "kafkijanski" apsurd i crni humor od blockbusterskog SF trilera. Liječnica (Sanna-June Hyde ) govori Sarah da će stopostotno umrijeti, iako prema računici ima dva posto šanse da ostane živa.

Njezin smrtno ozbiljni, mehanički izgovor rečenica, kakav znaju preuzeti i drugi likovi, podsjeća na minimalističke filmove Yorghosa Lanthimosa . Ironično, Sarah ipak ne umire i oporavlja se, a kad propadne plan o "povratu dvojnice", jedino je rješenje dvoboj do smrti kakav smo vidjeli na početku filma jer "ne možemo dopustite da vas dvije šetate okolo, to bi bilo suludo".
"Skoro je smiješno", kaže Sarah kad sagleda ironiju. I jest: "Dvojnica" je na trenutke prilično smiješna u "deadpanovskom" izričaju (crnog) humora izvučenog iz arhetipskog koncepta dualnosti i "doppelgängera", što film čini drukčijim od tematski sličnih naslova kao što su "Jedan jedini ", "Neprijatelj ", "Dvojnik "...
Stearns je takvom crnokomičnom izričaju naginjao i u prethodnom ostvarenju "Umjetnost samoobrane ". Ni "Dual" nije posve ujednačen film, ali svakako je ravnomjerniji od "The Art Of Self-Defense" i plijeni nekim originalnim momentima, primjerice da klon, kao pljunuta Sarah, nastaje od njezine pljuvačke. Film je i nepredvidljiv, naročito kad Sarah angažira osobnog trenera (Aaron Paul ) da je pripremi za dvoboj s dvojnicom, a umije biti i egzistencijalan i antiestablišmentski nastrojen.
Provodnu tematsku nit filma čini strah od zaborava te kritika sustava i njegova zakona da se original i klon moraju sukobiti do smrti, tj. ubiti nekoga/sami sebe i onda živjeti s time. Međutim, najveći horor "Dvojnice" jest vizija da bi ljudi u budućnosti mogli funkcionirati mehanički i da neće imati grama empatije. Vizija koja se već polako ostvaruje.

Netko može pomisliti da će gledati "Igre gladi " ili "Lov " u uvodu filma "Dvojnica" ("Dual"). Ispred očiju publike odvija se nekakvo natjecanje na život i smrt između dvojice sudionika. Jednog od njih, zanimljivo, glumi Theo James iz "hunger-gamesovskog " serijala "Različita ".
Odapinju se strijele iz samostrela i u predjelu prednjeg ramena pogađaju Jamesova natjecatelja koji se, ranjen, odluči na očajnički juriš s nožem u ruci i uspijeva ubiti protivnika. No, protivnik je njegova slika i prilika. "Podsjetite me, jeste li original ili dvojnik", pita novinarka pobjednika dvoboja i doda "Zbunjujuće je kad isto izgledate".

Tada je jasno da "Dvojnica" nije klon "Igara gladi ", ali gledatelj još uvijek može misliti da ga čeka futuristički SF triler o kloniranju tipa "Šesti dan " i "Otok". "Dual" se odvija u bliskoj budućnosti gdje je kloniranje ljudi moguće.
Postoji kompanija koja umirućem pojedincu omogućava da se klonira kako bi dvojnici zauzeli njegovo/njezino mjesto i njihovi bližnji ne bi patili.
Kad dozna da će je "izuzetno rijetka i neizlječiva bolest" odvesti u smrt, Sarah (Karen Gillan ) pristaje na kloniranje, no njezina dvojnica joj, kao u "The 6th Day", polako krade život, preuzima njezin odnos s momkom (Beulah Koale ) i majkom (Maija Paunio ) pretvarajući se da je ona.
Intrigantno je načet motiv da nas ljudi pokušavaju pretvoriti u našu poboljšanu verziju, nekoga po njihovom ukusu, kao majka i momak Sarahinu dvojnicu kojoj će ubrzo početi smetati slične stvari kakve su smetale Sarah. Tu negdje postaje jasno da redatelja Rileyja Stearnsa više interesira antižanrovska satira, "kafkijanski" apsurd i crni humor od blockbusterskog SF trilera. Liječnica (Sanna-June Hyde ) govori Sarah da će stopostotno umrijeti, iako prema računici ima dva posto šanse da ostane živa.

Njezin smrtno ozbiljni, mehanički izgovor rečenica, kakav znaju preuzeti i drugi likovi, podsjeća na minimalističke filmove Yorghosa Lanthimosa . Ironično, Sarah ipak ne umire i oporavlja se, a kad propadne plan o "povratu dvojnice", jedino je rješenje dvoboj do smrti kakav smo vidjeli na početku filma jer "ne možemo dopustite da vas dvije šetate okolo, to bi bilo suludo".
"Skoro je smiješno", kaže Sarah kad sagleda ironiju. I jest: "Dvojnica" je na trenutke prilično smiješna u "deadpanovskom" izričaju (crnog) humora izvučenog iz arhetipskog koncepta dualnosti i "doppelgängera", što film čini drukčijim od tematski sličnih naslova kao što su "Jedan jedini ", "Neprijatelj ", "Dvojnik "...
Stearns je takvom crnokomičnom izričaju naginjao i u prethodnom ostvarenju "Umjetnost samoobrane ". Ni "Dual" nije posve ujednačen film, ali svakako je ravnomjerniji od "The Art Of Self-Defense" i plijeni nekim originalnim momentima, primjerice da klon, kao pljunuta Sarah, nastaje od njezine pljuvačke. Film je i nepredvidljiv, naročito kad Sarah angažira osobnog trenera (Aaron Paul ) da je pripremi za dvoboj s dvojnicom, a umije biti i egzistencijalan i antiestablišmentski nastrojen.
Provodnu tematsku nit filma čini strah od zaborava te kritika sustava i njegova zakona da se original i klon moraju sukobiti do smrti, tj. ubiti nekoga/sami sebe i onda živjeti s time. Međutim, najveći horor "Dvojnice" jest vizija da bi ljudi u budućnosti mogli funkcionirati mehanički i da neće imati grama empatije. Vizija koja se već polako ostvaruje.
