Na ovaj način i u uvjetima otežanog poslovanja Grad Dubrovnik financijski olakšava roditeljima pripremu za početak nove školske godine.

Grad je tako pokrenuo otvorene postupke javne nabave za nabavku udžbenika te za nabavku radnih materijala za osnovne škole na području grada Dubrovnika. Po okončanju postupka udžbenici i obrazovni materijali bit će isporučeni školama, a učenici će u tjednu prije početka nastave biti pozvani osobno iz preuzeti.

Pravo na obrazovne materijale ostvaruju učenici od 1. do 8. razreda osnovne škole čiji roditelji imaju prebivalište na području Grada Dubrovnika, što je regulirano Pravilnikom o financiranju obrazovnih materijala. Ove troškove financira Grad Dubrovnik, a Grad u ime škola provodi postupak javne nabave. Nabava je procijenjena na 1.330.000,00 kuna (bez PDV-a).

Grad Dubrovnik u ime škola provodi i postupak javne nabave za udžbenike za učenike od 1. do 8. razreda, a ove troškove, procijenjene na 1.520.000,00 kuna (bez PDV-a), snosi Ministarstvo znanosti i obrazovanja sukladno Zakonu o udžbenicima i drugim obrazovnim materijalima. Nakon što je prošle godine financiranje udžbenika za sve učenike osnovnih škola preuzelo Ministarstvo znanosti i obrazovanja, a što je radnije financirao Grad, i ove će godine Grad Dubrovnik za učenike čiji roditelji imaju prebivalište na području Grada osigurati besplatne obrazovne materijale poput radnih bilježnica, tehničkih kutija i likovnih mapa. Na ovaj način i u uvjetima otežanog poslovanja Grad Dubrovnik financijski olakšava roditeljima pripremu za početak nove školske godine.
