Maslinovo ulje na Mediteranu moglo bi ubrzo postati rjeđe i još znatno skuplje. U Italiji je već ozbiljno napredovao fatalan proces koji vuče stvari u tom smjeru: bakteriji koju prenose kukci s juga zemlje dosad je tamo uspjelo ‘ubiti‘ više od 21 milijun stabala maslina, alarmiraju javnost tamošnji stručnjaci, piše Slobodna Dalmacija.

Otkako se prije deset godina pojavila u Pugliji, sa samoj ‘peti‘ talijanske čizme, Xylella fastidiosa, koju prenose leteći kukci, ubila je čak trećinu od 60 milijuna tamošnjih stabala maslina. A u ovoj regiji se tradicionalno proizvodila gotovo polovica ulja u susjednoj nam prekomorskoj državi. U Italiju je kobna bakterija svojedobno unesena preko sadnog materijala dopremljenog iz Kostarike. Proširila je zarazu najprije oko Leccea, u južnoj Pugliji, ali sad napreduje prema Bariju, gdje su koncentrirani najveći maslinici u regiji, neki stari i do tisuću godina.

"Ako Xylella fastidiosa dođe do Barija, to će biti katastrofa i pomor za ukupnu proizvodnju, s neizbježnim učinkom na cijene", rekao je za The Times Nicola Di Noia, talijanski stručnjak za maslinovo ulje.

Kada se Xylella pojavila, pokušalo se intervenirati sječom zaraženih stabala i stvaranjem tampon zona kako bi se zaustavilo njezino širenje. Te mjere, međutim, nisu dale ploda jer nisu dosljedno prihvaćene. Prema Danieleu Rielliju, koji je napisao knjigu o kobnoj bakteriji pod naslovom ‘Nevidljiva vatra‘, teorije zavjere na društvenim mrežama oko obolijevanja maslina bile su slične onima oko koronavirusa. Mnogi su za sušenje stabala okrivljavali pesticide, zagađenje voda, pa čak i tajne grupe koje noću prskaju otrove kako bi multinacionalne kompanije Talijanima mogle prodati nova, genetski modificirana stabla maslina.

“Ljudi uvijek traže žrtvene jarce tijekom epidemija. Društvene mreže širile su te zle misli neviđenom brzinom, a političari su im se populistički dodvoravali. Danas ljudi u Pugliji polako shvaćaju svoju zabludu, i kao da masovno istupaju iz tog kulta", kaže Rielli. Sve odlučnije se sijeku zaražena stabla i redovitije kosi trava koja u maslinicima služi za odlaganje jaja infektivnih kukaca.

Na fatalnu bakteriju su i u Hrvatskoj još prije nekoliko godina upozoravali domaći agronomi. Riječ je o vrlo polifagnom patogenu kojemu maslina nije jedina biljka-domaćin. Znao je praviti nered i u vinogradima, pa i na citrusima, te bademima, trešnji, višnji, nektarini, lavandi, ružmarinu... Velika je opasnost za vrtne centre i rasadnike, posebno mediteranskog ukrasnog bilja. Napada provodne dijelove biljke pa ona prestaje dobivati vodu i hranjive tvari te se ubrzano suši. Bakterija je posebno destruktivna na maslini, i u Italiji je već izazvala štete teške desetke milijuna eura. Zanimljivo je da je naročito teško poharala stare maslinike i stara stabla.

Uz Xylellu, loša vijest za sve svjetske konzumente maslinova ulja je i ovogodišnji rani početak sezone suša u Španjolskoj, najvećem svjetskom proizvođaču. Ostvare li se sve crne prognoze, ulja će na cijelom Mediteranu biti dosta samo za zadnju pomast.

Maslinovo ulje na Mediteranu moglo bi ubrzo postati rjeđe i još znatno skuplje. U Italiji je već ozbiljno napredovao fatalan proces koji vuče stvari u tom smjeru: bakteriji koju prenose kukci s juga zemlje dosad je tamo uspjelo ‘ubiti‘ više od 21 milijun stabala maslina, alarmiraju javnost tamošnji stručnjaci, piše Slobodna Dalmacija.

Otkako se prije deset godina pojavila u Pugliji, sa samoj ‘peti‘ talijanske čizme, Xylella fastidiosa, koju prenose leteći kukci, ubila je čak trećinu od 60 milijuna tamošnjih stabala maslina. A u ovoj regiji se tradicionalno proizvodila gotovo polovica ulja u susjednoj nam prekomorskoj državi. U Italiju je kobna bakterija svojedobno unesena preko sadnog materijala dopremljenog iz Kostarike. Proširila je zarazu najprije oko Leccea, u južnoj Pugliji, ali sad napreduje prema Bariju, gdje su koncentrirani najveći maslinici u regiji, neki stari i do tisuću godina.

"Ako Xylella fastidiosa dođe do Barija, to će biti katastrofa i pomor za ukupnu proizvodnju, s neizbježnim učinkom na cijene", rekao je za The Times Nicola Di Noia, talijanski stručnjak za maslinovo ulje.

Kada se Xylella pojavila, pokušalo se intervenirati sječom zaraženih stabala i stvaranjem tampon zona kako bi se zaustavilo njezino širenje. Te mjere, međutim, nisu dale ploda jer nisu dosljedno prihvaćene. Prema Danieleu Rielliju, koji je napisao knjigu o kobnoj bakteriji pod naslovom ‘Nevidljiva vatra‘, teorije zavjere na društvenim mrežama oko obolijevanja maslina bile su slične onima oko koronavirusa. Mnogi su za sušenje stabala okrivljavali pesticide, zagađenje voda, pa čak i tajne grupe koje noću prskaju otrove kako bi multinacionalne kompanije Talijanima mogle prodati nova, genetski modificirana stabla maslina.

“Ljudi uvijek traže žrtvene jarce tijekom epidemija. Društvene mreže širile su te zle misli neviđenom brzinom, a političari su im se populistički dodvoravali. Danas ljudi u Pugliji polako shvaćaju svoju zabludu, i kao da masovno istupaju iz tog kulta", kaže Rielli. Sve odlučnije se sijeku zaražena stabla i redovitije kosi trava koja u maslinicima služi za odlaganje jaja infektivnih kukaca.

Na fatalnu bakteriju su i u Hrvatskoj još prije nekoliko godina upozoravali domaći agronomi. Riječ je o vrlo polifagnom patogenu kojemu maslina nije jedina biljka-domaćin. Znao je praviti nered i u vinogradima, pa i na citrusima, te bademima, trešnji, višnji, nektarini, lavandi, ružmarinu... Velika je opasnost za vrtne centre i rasadnike, posebno mediteranskog ukrasnog bilja. Napada provodne dijelove biljke pa ona prestaje dobivati vodu i hranjive tvari te se ubrzano suši. Bakterija je posebno destruktivna na maslini, i u Italiji je već izazvala štete teške desetke milijuna eura. Zanimljivo je da je naročito teško poharala stare maslinike i stara stabla.

Uz Xylellu, loša vijest za sve svjetske konzumente maslinova ulja je i ovogodišnji rani početak sezone suša u Španjolskoj, najvećem svjetskom proizvođaču. Ostvare li se sve crne prognoze, ulja će na cijelom Mediteranu biti dosta samo za zadnju pomast.
