New York Times donosi veliku reportažu o tome da je predsjednik Joe Biden na korak do donošenja odluke da Ukrajini isporuči kazetno streljivo, zabranjeno oružje za koje se zna da uzrokuje teške ozljede civila, napose djece.

Ovaj korak oštro bi odvojio Bidena od njegovih najbližih saveznika, koji su potpisali međunarodni sporazum o zabrani uporabe, skladištenja ili prijenosa takvog oružja.

Nekoliko Bidenovih najbližih suradnika, uključujući državnog tajnika Antonyja Blinkena, preporučili su mu da poduzme taj korak na sastanku najviših dužnosnika nacionalne sigurnosti prošloga tjedna, unatoč duboki rezervama, ispričali su ljudi bliski razgovorima.

State Department zadnji je držao otpor, kako iz humanitarnih razloga, tako i zbog zabrinutosti da će se SAD drastično udaljiti os dvojih saveznika.

Suradnici Bidena sada smatraju da nemaju puno izbora. Ukrajina, koja je u ratu već koristila vlastite zalihe kazetne municije, troši sve raspoložive zalihe konvencionalnih topničkih granata i trebat će vremena da poveća proizvodnju.

NY Times piše da je Biden pod stalnim pritiskom ukrajinskog predsjednika Volodimira Zelenskog, koji tvrdi da je streljivo — koje raspršuje sićušne, smrtonosne bombice — najbolji način da se ubiju Rusi koji su ukopani u rovovima i blokiraju ukrajinsku protuofenzivu.

New York Times donosi veliku reportažu o tome da je predsjednik Joe Biden na korak do donošenja odluke da Ukrajini isporuči kazetno streljivo, zabranjeno oružje za koje se zna da uzrokuje teške ozljede civila, napose djece.

Ovaj korak oštro bi odvojio Bidena od njegovih najbližih saveznika, koji su potpisali međunarodni sporazum o zabrani uporabe, skladištenja ili prijenosa takvog oružja.

Nekoliko Bidenovih najbližih suradnika, uključujući državnog tajnika Antonyja Blinkena, preporučili su mu da poduzme taj korak na sastanku najviših dužnosnika nacionalne sigurnosti prošloga tjedna, unatoč duboki rezervama, ispričali su ljudi bliski razgovorima.

New York Times donosi veliku reportažu o tome da je predsjednik Joe Biden na korak do donošenja odluke da Ukrajini isporuči kazetno streljivo, zabranjeno oružje za koje se zna da uzrokuje teške ozljede civila, napose djece.

Ovaj korak oštro bi odvojio Bidena od njegovih najbližih saveznika, koji su potpisali međunarodni sporazum o zabrani uporabe, skladištenja ili prijenosa takvog oružja.

Nekoliko Bidenovih najbližih suradnika, uključujući državnog tajnika Antonyja Blinkena, preporučili su mu da poduzme taj korak na sastanku najviših dužnosnika nacionalne sigurnosti prošloga tjedna, unatoč duboki rezervama, ispričali su ljudi bliski razgovorima.

State Department zadnji je držao otpor, kako iz humanitarnih razloga, tako i zbog zabrinutosti da će se SAD drastično udaljiti os dvojih saveznika.

Suradnici Bidena sada smatraju da nemaju puno izbora. Ukrajina, koja je u ratu već koristila vlastite zalihe kazetne municije, troši sve raspoložive zalihe konvencionalnih topničkih granata i trebat će vremena da poveća proizvodnju.

NY Times piše da je Biden pod stalnim pritiskom ukrajinskog predsjednika Volodimira Zelenskog, koji tvrdi da je streljivo — koje raspršuje sićušne, smrtonosne bombice — najbolji način da se ubiju Rusi koji su ukopani u rovovima i blokiraju ukrajinsku protuofenzivu.
