Jedan od najposuđivanijih autora u knjižnicama na Otoku imao je i trajan predmet interesa – vještice koje plaše djecu. Opisivao ih je uglavnom kao zle i ružne spodobe zbog čega su mu kritičari prilijepili etiketu ženomrsca i seksista, no to nimalo nije utjecalo na čitanost njegovih djela s velikim potencijalom za ekranizaciju.

Posljednje u nizu prihvatio se Robert Zemeckis (Povratak u budućnost, Oskarom ovjenčani Forrest Gump) i stvorio vibrantnu, osebujnim likovima napučenu storiju u kojoj je meta vještičjeg zastrašivanja mali Afroamerikanac.

Takav protagonist odudara od književnog predloška, ali se dobro uklapa u aktualni trend američke kinematografije koja promiče svekolike različitosti. Film 'Vještice Roalda Dahla' poigrava se s povijesnim faktima pa radnju smješta duboko na Jug, u Alabamu koncem 1960-tih kad tamnoputim stanovnicima nisu trebale vještice da bi se osjećali ugroženima.

Kako god, bezimenog Dječaka s dosta poleta glumi Jahzir Bruno, a njegovu dobrodušnu baku pouzdana oskarovka Octavia Spencer. Čak je i Chris Rock u ulozi nevidljivog naratora tamnoput, dok je vodeća među zlikovcima, Grand High Witch, porculanske puti. Rola maliciozne vještice koja se razmeće moćima odlično pristaje Anne Hathaway, očito umornoj od aureole filmske dobrice.

U ranijoj verziji iz 1990. u režiji Nicolasa Roega ulogu predvodnice vještica uvjerljivo je tumačila Angelica Houston. Zbog njemačkog akcenta i makabrističkog tona neki su u tadašnjoj junakinji pronašli natruhe antisemitizma. Na tom tragu bi se moglo 'osuditi' i novu Grand High Witch Hathaway koja, onako modno osviještena i sva vrckava, zagovara konačno rješenje – svu djecu svijeta treba pretvoriti u miševe.

No, za razliku od prethodnice koja uokolo šeće kao monstrum, nova šefica vještica izgleda prijeteće upravo zato što izgledom nije uvijek 'čudovišna'.

Iako je zenit popularnosti dosegnuo još prije četvrt stoljeća, Zemeckis je i novim filmom podsjetio na raskoš talenta. U 'Vješticama' nećete naći jezovite figure poput onih iz Burtonova Beetlejuicea ili nakazne ženturače kakvih se prije 30 ljeta prihvatio Roeg.

Zemeckisovu eksperimentu nije cilj pop-up zastrašivanje (pred)školaraca, nego stvaranje dojma kod odraslih koji ne vjeruju u vještice ali znaju prepoznati njihove osobine u svom bližem okruženju. Jedan od najposuđivanijih autora u knjižnicama na Otoku imao je i trajan predmet interesa – vještice koje plaše djecu. Opisivao ih je uglavnom kao zle i ružne spodobe zbog čega su mu kritičari prilijepili etiketu ženomrsca i seksista, no to nimalo nije utjecalo na čitanost njegovih djela s velikim potencijalom za ekranizaciju.

Posljednje u nizu prihvatio se Robert Zemeckis (Povratak u budućnost, Oskarom ovjenčani Forrest Gump) i stvorio vibrantnu, osebujnim likovima napučenu storiju u kojoj je meta vještičjeg zastrašivanja mali Afroamerikanac.

Takav protagonist odudara od književnog predloška, ali se dobro uklapa u aktualni trend američke kinematografije koja promiče svekolike različitosti. Film 'Vještice Roalda Dahla' poigrava se s povijesnim faktima pa radnju smješta duboko na Jug, u Alabamu koncem 1960-tih kad tamnoputim stanovnicima nisu trebale vještice da bi se osjećali ugroženima.

Kako god, bezimenog Dječaka s dosta poleta glumi Jahzir Bruno, a njegovu dobrodušnu baku pouzdana oskarovka Octavia Spencer. Čak je i Chris Rock u ulozi nevidljivog naratora tamnoput, dok je vodeća među zlikovcima, Grand High Witch, porculanske puti. Rola maliciozne vještice koja se razmeće moćima odlično pristaje Anne Hathaway, očito umornoj od aureole filmske dobrice.

U ranijoj verziji iz 1990. u režiji Nicolasa Roega ulogu predvodnice vještica uvjerljivo je tumačila Angelica Houston. Zbog njemačkog akcenta i makabrističkog tona neki su u tadašnjoj junakinji pronašli natruhe antisemitizma. Na tom tragu bi se moglo 'osuditi' i novu Grand High Witch Hathaway koja, onako modno osviještena i sva vrckava, zagovara konačno rješenje – svu djecu svijeta treba pretvoriti u miševe.

No, za razliku od prethodnice koja uokolo šeće kao monstrum, nova šefica vještica izgleda prijeteće upravo zato što izgledom nije uvijek 'čudovišna'.

Iako je zenit popularnosti dosegnuo još prije četvrt stoljeća, Zemeckis je i novim filmom podsjetio na raskoš talenta. U 'Vješticama' nećete naći jezovite figure poput onih iz Burtonova Beetlejuicea ili nakazne ženturače kakvih se prije 30 ljeta prihvatio Roeg.

Zemeckisovu eksperimentu nije cilj pop-up zastrašivanje (pred)školaraca, nego stvaranje dojma kod odraslih koji ne vjeruju u vještice ali znaju prepoznati njihove osobine u svom bližem okruženju. ‘Vještice‘ oskarovca Roberta Zemeckisa su modno osvještene dame koje plaše djecu i izazivaju odrasle

Roald Dahl, britanski književnik, diplomat i pripadnik Royal Air Force iz Drugog svjetskog rata rado i često je pisao za najmlađe. Jedan od najposuđivanijih autora u knjižnicama na Otoku imao je i trajan predmet interesa – vještice koje plaše djecu. Opisivao ih je uglavnom kao zle i ružne spodobe zbog čega su mu kritičari prilijepili etiketu ženomrsca i seksista, no to nimalo nije utjecalo na čitanost njegovih djela s velikim potencijalom za ekranizaciju.

Posljednje u nizu prihvatio se Robert Zemeckis (Povratak u budućnost, Oskarom ovjenčani Forrest Gump) i stvorio vibrantnu, osebujnim likovima napučenu storiju u kojoj je meta vještičjeg zastrašivanja mali Afroamerikanac.

Takav protagonist odudara od književnog predloška, ali se dobro uklapa u aktualni trend američke kinematografije koja promiče svekolike različitosti. Film 'Vještice Roalda Dahla' poigrava se s povijesnim faktima pa radnju smješta duboko na Jug, u Alabamu koncem 1960-tih kad tamnoputim stanovnicima nisu trebale vještice da bi se osjećali ugroženima.

Kako god, bezimenog Dječaka s dosta poleta glumi Jahzir Bruno, a njegovu dobrodušnu baku pouzdana oskarovka Octavia Spencer. Čak je i Chris Rock u ulozi nevidljivog naratora tamnoput, dok je vodeća među zlikovcima, Grand High Witch, porculanske puti. Rola maliciozne vještice koja se razmeće moćima odlično pristaje Anne Hathaway, očito umornoj od aureole filmske dobrice.

U ranijoj verziji iz 1990. u režiji Nicolasa Roega ulogu predvodnice vještica uvjerljivo je tumačila Angelica Houston. Zbog njemačkog akcenta i makabrističkog tona neki su u tadašnjoj junakinji pronašli natruhe antisemitizma. Na tom tragu bi se moglo 'osuditi' i novu Grand High Witch Hathaway koja, onako modno osviještena i sva vrckava, zagovara konačno rješenje – svu djecu svijeta treba pretvoriti u miševe.

No, za razliku od prethodnice koja uokolo šeće kao monstrum, nova šefica vještica izgleda prijeteće upravo zato što izgledom nije uvijek 'čudovišna'.

Iako je zenit popularnosti dosegnuo još prije četvrt stoljeća, Zemeckis je i novim filmom podsjetio na raskoš talenta. U 'Vješticama' nećete naći jezovite figure poput onih iz Burtonova Beetlejuicea ili nakazne ženturače kakvih se prije 30 ljeta prihvatio Roeg.

Zemeckisovu eksperimentu nije cilj pop-up zastrašivanje (pred)školaraca, nego stvaranje dojma kod odraslih koji ne vjeruju u vještice ali znaju prepoznati njihove osobine u svom bližem okruženju.
