U međuvremenu se dogodio Covid-19, distributeri su kalkulirali s datumom i platformom prikazivanja, a kod publike je splasnuo entuzijazam.

'Mulan' se ipak početkom rujna ukazao u kinima, no dugo iščekivanje nije opravdalo očekivanja. Film novozelandske redateljice Niki Caro vizualno je dojmljivo djelo, raskošne kostimografije i krajolika, no s manjkom epskog zamaha kakav bi trebao pratiti narodnu baladu iz koje je proistekao.

Problemi koji nisu opterećivali animirani film, u filmskoj verziji itekako dolaze do izražaja. Prvi je nerazrađen povijesni kontekst priče: neimenovanu kinesku dinastiju predstavlja car (neprepoznatljivi Jet Li), više figura nego suveren za kojega bi se bespogovorno borili podanici. Bitkama nedostaje masovnosti, a nomadskim neprijateljima Imperija motivacije povrh puke želje za osvajanjem.

Profilacija dominantno muških likova manjkava je, samo rijetki privuku pažnju poput Mulanina mentora komandanta Tunga (Donnie Yen) ili Mulanina bolećivog oca (hongkonški veteran Tzi Ma). Glavni negativac, vođa 'konfederacije' osvajačkih plemena, (Jason Scott Lee) neuspjela je reciklaža barbarina, a Mulanin suborac i potencijalna simpatija Chen (Yoson An) potpuno nedorečen, valjda materijal za nastavak u sljedećem broju.

Ženski akteri malobrojni su ali nadmoćni, na tragu aktualnog globalnog pokreta za emancipaciju nježnijeg spola.

Naslovna junakinja Mulan (američka glumica, pjevačica i model azijskih korijena Yifei Liu), provincijalka je koja slobodoumnošću i sklonošću borilačkim vještinama prkosi uvriježenim pravilima sredine i riskira izgon.

Ostracizam je već doživjela njezina suparnica Xiang Lang (diva Gong Li), još jedna samosvjesna žena koju su zatucani zemljaci proglasili vješticom i bacili je u krilo osvajača. Motiv dviju snažnih žena u patrijarhalnom društvu itekako ima potencijala, no on se ovdje utopio u Mulaninom prilično naivno prikazanom prerušavanju u ratnika i Xianginu preletavanju ekrana u obličju grabljivice.

Filmu ne pridonosi ni neuspjeli pokušaj objašnjavanja kompleksnog pojma 'qi', životne sile i filozofije koju je Lucas savršeno opisao u 'Star Wars', a Niki Caro banalizirala u Mulan.

Nakon svega se teško oteti dojmu da ekranizacija dvadesetak godina starog animiranog filma nauštrb kvalitete podilazi #MeToo pokretu, ali i mnogoljudnom kineskom tržištu koje voli domaće baštinske pripovijesti.

U međuvremenu se dogodio Covid-19, distributeri su kalkulirali s datumom i platformom prikazivanja, a kod publike je splasnuo entuzijazam.

'Mulan' se ipak početkom rujna ukazao u kinima, no dugo iščekivanje nije opravdalo očekivanja. Film novozelandske redateljice Niki Caro vizualno je dojmljivo djelo, raskošne kostimografije i krajolika, no s manjkom epskog zamaha kakav bi trebao pratiti narodnu baladu iz koje je proistekao.

Problemi koji nisu opterećivali animirani film, u filmskoj verziji itekako dolaze do izražaja. Prvi je nerazrađen povijesni kontekst priče: neimenovanu kinesku dinastiju predstavlja car (neprepoznatljivi Jet Li), više figura nego suveren za kojega bi se bespogovorno borili podanici. Bitkama nedostaje masovnosti, a nomadskim neprijateljima Imperija motivacije povrh puke želje za osvajanjem.

Profilacija dominantno muških likova manjkava je, samo rijetki privuku pažnju poput Mulanina mentora komandanta Tunga (Donnie Yen) ili Mulanina bolećivog oca (hongkonški veteran Tzi Ma). Glavni negativac, vođa 'konfederacije' osvajačkih plemena, (Jason Scott Lee) neuspjela je reciklaža barbarina, a Mulanin suborac i potencijalna simpatija Chen (Yoson An) potpuno nedorečen, valjda materijal za nastavak u sljedećem broju.

Ženski akteri malobrojni su ali nadmoćni, na tragu aktualnog globalnog pokreta za emancipaciju nježnijeg spola.

Naslovna junakinja Mulan (američka glumica, pjevačica i model azijskih korijena Yifei Liu), provincijalka je koja slobodoumnošću i sklonošću borilačkim vještinama prkosi uvriježenim pravilima sredine i riskira izgon.

Ostracizam je već doživjela njezina suparnica Xiang Lang (diva Gong Li), još jedna samosvjesna žena koju su zatucani zemljaci proglasili vješticom i bacili je u krilo osvajača. Motiv dviju snažnih žena u patrijarhalnom društvu itekako ima potencijala, no on se ovdje utopio u Mulaninom prilično naivno prikazanom prerušavanju u ratnika i Xianginu preletavanju ekrana u obličju grabljivice.

Filmu ne pridonosi ni neuspjeli pokušaj objašnjavanja kompleksnog pojma 'qi', životne sile i filozofije koju je Lucas savršeno opisao u 'Star Wars', a Niki Caro banalizirala u Mulan.

Nakon svega se teško oteti dojmu da ekranizacija dvadesetak godina starog animiranog filma nauštrb kvalitete podilazi #MeToo pokretu, ali i mnogoljudnom kineskom tržištu koje voli domaće baštinske pripovijesti.

MULAN Priča o ženi ratnici bolja je kao crtić. U igranoj verziji gubi epski zamah i otvoreno podilazi pomodnim trendovima

Moćnici iz Disneyeva filmskog studija za ožujak su tempirali premijeru 'Mulan', uvjereni da će im igrana inačica crtića iz 1990-tih o hrabroj starokineskoj borkinji osigurati novi blockbuster. U međuvremenu se dogodio Covid-19, distributeri su kalkulirali s datumom i platformom prikazivanja, a kod publike je splasnuo entuzijazam.

'Mulan' se ipak početkom rujna ukazao u kinima, no dugo iščekivanje nije opravdalo očekivanja. Film novozelandske redateljice Niki Caro vizualno je dojmljivo djelo, raskošne kostimografije i krajolika, no s manjkom epskog zamaha kakav bi trebao pratiti narodnu baladu iz koje je proistekao.

Problemi koji nisu opterećivali animirani film, u filmskoj verziji itekako dolaze do izražaja. Prvi je nerazrađen povijesni kontekst priče: neimenovanu kinesku dinastiju predstavlja car (neprepoznatljivi Jet Li), više figura nego suveren za kojega bi se bespogovorno borili podanici. Bitkama nedostaje masovnosti, a nomadskim neprijateljima Imperija motivacije povrh puke želje za osvajanjem.

Profilacija dominantno muških likova manjkava je, samo rijetki privuku pažnju poput Mulanina mentora komandanta Tunga (Donnie Yen) ili Mulanina bolećivog oca (hongkonški veteran Tzi Ma). Glavni negativac, vođa 'konfederacije' osvajačkih plemena, (Jason Scott Lee) neuspjela je reciklaža barbarina, a Mulanin suborac i potencijalna simpatija Chen (Yoson An) potpuno nedorečen, valjda materijal za nastavak u sljedećem broju.

Ženski akteri malobrojni su ali nadmoćni, na tragu aktualnog globalnog pokreta za emancipaciju nježnijeg spola.

Naslovna junakinja Mulan (američka glumica, pjevačica i model azijskih korijena Yifei Liu), provincijalka je koja slobodoumnošću i sklonošću borilačkim vještinama prkosi uvriježenim pravilima sredine i riskira izgon.

Ostracizam je već doživjela njezina suparnica Xiang Lang (diva Gong Li), još jedna samosvjesna žena koju su zatucani zemljaci proglasili vješticom i bacili je u krilo osvajača. Motiv dviju snažnih žena u patrijarhalnom društvu itekako ima potencijala, no on se ovdje utopio u Mulaninom prilično naivno prikazanom prerušavanju u ratnika i Xianginu preletavanju ekrana u obličju grabljivice.

Filmu ne pridonosi ni neuspjeli pokušaj objašnjavanja kompleksnog pojma 'qi', životne sile i filozofije koju je Lucas savršeno opisao u 'Star Wars', a Niki Caro banalizirala u Mulan.

Nakon svega se teško oteti dojmu da ekranizacija dvadesetak godina starog animiranog filma nauštrb kvalitete podilazi #MeToo pokretu, ali i mnogoljudnom kineskom tržištu koje voli domaće baštinske pripovijesti.
